Kids !

Oops ! I started this in the wrong forum. (I must be going stir crazy).

Let’s start again :

With all the doting grandparents on this forum I am sure that we could all share some of the funny things the grandchildren get up to.

I will start off to hopefully get the thread going :

I have never known a child to eat as much as 5 year Ollie (the baby in my avatar) does ! He sometimes gets up before the rest of his family and my daughter has often woken up to find him standing beside the bed eating a carrot (foliage and all). She finds sometimes that blueberries, strawberries, etc., she had been saving for dessert have disappeared. Her father-in-law bought and installed a lock for the frig to stop Ollie helping himself - it took him one day to work out how to unlock it ...... and then to lock it again after he had helped himself.

Hazel, at least he is choosing nourishing foods with vitamin C, and knows to avoid raw bacon!
Clever boy to learn the lock !
Reminds me of one Easter long ago. Steven was 4 and Claire was 2. We had bought the Easter eggs and 'hidden' them (we thought) in the fridge. Woke up early on the Saturday morning and heard voices from downstairs and the sound of fridge door. He was saying 'Go on Claire, get them out. Mummy and Daddy won't mind'. Egging her on! We were too amused by this yolk to say much :choklit:

I dont see my great grandson very often in real life Lacey but usually see what he has been up to by photos and on Facetime.
He is a bundle of dynamite and on the go all the time.
I only have the one granddaughter and one great grandson.

I hope others do join in because I would love to read about the capers the little ones.

Hi Penny
I eas quite surprised because it went very well and although he was not English I could make out what he was saying. He went right back into my background from when I was a child and all through my lifestyle. He finally said that with what he had seen on any x-rays and with talking to me he was going to arrange for a bone infusion and get some blood tests done. He was getting it all sorted but with me being a very high risk person it would have to be delayed until the pandemic had died down because he could not risk me going to the hospital to have it done at the present time. Thanks Penny for asking.

Anyway back to Lacey's thread.

You can always by pass this thread Laurie because others ARE interested.
I love children and only wish I could have had more than the one son. We all know that kids can be a pain in the arse at times whether small or grown up but many of the tales of their capers when little are far more comical than some of todays so called comedy to me.

Having a smile at Vannins egg tale and SO typical of little ones. I bet it was really eggciting for them both. :roflmao:

Lacey where has he heard that from?

[quote="Lacemaker"]Ollie was heard telling his sister - I’m not your slave. Get used to it !

How old is his sister?

Before I became completey disabled I used to go and sit on the seat on the green where I live where a few outdoor activities were for the little ones being supervised by their mums after bringing them home from school.
Over the years the children used to call me Nanny Walker and chatted to me about what they had done at school plus where they were going for holidays and what they made. The mums used to come and sit and have a word with me an tell me little things there children used to do.
I started to put the tales into rhyme and giving them to the mothers to keep. This is one below and since heard that now that he is older he has had it framed and intends to pass it on to any offspring he has.

ARE YOU THERE LORD?

The infants were having their first lesson concerning the Good Book
The teacher said the Lord was with them, they gave her a funny look,
She said God would hear them when they said their daily prayer
And he would help with any problems that they wanted to share.

The children said if the Lord was with them, His presence all around
Why! When saying prayers, did they have to look down on the ground?
A lad said in a loud whisper it was like having an invisible mate
It sounded just like the one he had, that's why he was always late,

The teacher assured them all that the good Lord was up above
And every one of the children had His blessings and His love.
One little girl queried this and said "Why cant we see Him miss?
If He loves us as you say, why doesn't He give us all a kiss?"

"He is always with you" said the teacher "even through the night."
"Could we have His address miss? And then we could all write"
The teacher said "No" to that question because it was time to go
She would tell them at their next lesson all they wanted to know.

She watched them all file out after putting their things back in place
When she noticed a little lad standing with a puzzled look on his face
She became concerned and exclaimed, "Are you not very well?
The other children have all gone home, did you not hear the bell?"

The teacher was quite worried at the stillness of the little lad
"Tommy please do tell me if you are poorly, I will not be mad."
The little boy looked at the teacher with joy and very knowingly said
"If you give me God's phone number I could give Him a ring instead!"

I have just call had my carer call to empty my bins with this poster that her youngest son has drawn for me. He is just coming up to 6 years old.
To say I was touched would be putting it mildly and is now displayed on the front door so that it can be seen through the glass panel.

His sister is 7 years old, Maisie, but both of them say things that could come straight out of their parents mouth. When Jade was 2 years old she was fascinated when I clicked my fingers but although she tried very hard she just couldn’t make a noise like me ..... so she rubbed her fingers together and made a clicking sound with her tongue instead.

Many thanks Vannin. Glad you liked it because as I said I put the true tales into rhyme and always passed on a copy to the mother.

Here is another poem and the little lad telling me this tale was quite chatty and was used to talking to me.
His mother was talking to another Mum so it gave him time to tell me this tale.
His Mum was thriiled to bits the next day when I told her that I sat talking to her little lad and this was what he had told me.

MY BROTHER

My mums had a baby, a playmate for me
She said that she found him under a tree.
I don't like him when he's crying and is always wet
But I suppose at the time it was all she could get.

He's small at the moment and does nothing but yell
And sometimes he burps and makes a bad smell,
I'll teach him nursery rhymes and "Winnie the Pooh"
And how to use the toilet and not wee in his shoe.

We will draw lots of pictures and have lots of fun
And we will play in the paddling pool out in the sun.
I WILL look after him, I will make sure of that
And we will share my books about Postman Pat

We will play at "Bob the Builder" and build a wall
I will teach him his ABC and watch him grow tall
I will tell him about the animals that live in the Zoo
In fact I will tell him everything he can and can't do

I'll show him how to eat and how to drink out of a cup
Though I am only just turned six I feel I'm quite grown-up.

Good morning everyone and a special hello to talented Maisie.
Another lovely poem from you, and these can't fail to relieve the rather hopeless feeling of lockdown.
A warm day leading to the forecast of a hot Saturday. Then cooling down again.
