I had a super surprise because my neighbour and my cleaning lady had got together with my family and had fliers done to put in the neighbours doors in the Close to ask them if they would like to join in with wishing me a Happy Birthday at 10am on Sunday.
It was a lovely hour out in glorious sunshine and most of the neighbours came with a card, my family had even had a lovely cake made for me which everyone had a slice of.
Everyone was apart but together if you get my meaning.
To make it more festive my neighbours had come at 11-30 the night before to put bunting up and my name with special 90 today cards attached on it.
It brought a few tears because that was the last thing i expected.I am just keeping my fingers crossed now that when this ruddy virus has had its bout out I will be able to have the big celebration that was cancelled.
I have had many cyber messages too and Sarah Lawson cards that I have been answering so YES it was a super day.

The only dickie I touched on any sailor was his collar for luck.

Strangely enough when looking back over the war years we rarely saw a sailor unless he was on leave and the only Americans we saw was the 82nd Airborne Division.
Plenty of Italian prisoners and a few jerries but rarely sailors.
