The 25th of April ceremonies are being attended by more each year despite the passing of so many who were involved in war.
As a born in Britain Kiwi I am always amazed at the war statistics of this small country.
Boer War 6000 served 400 casualties 230 deaths
WW1 100,000 served 59483 casualties 18166 deaths
WW2 140,000 served 36038 casualties 11625 deaths
Korean War 6000 served 120 casualties 45 deaths
Viet Nam 3900 served 230 casualties 40 deaths
Afghanistan 3500 served 10 ,deaths.

Today we drove out to a tiny village called Tinui. Population about 25 but about 400 turned up for the remembrance service. Tinui was the first place to hold an ANZAC Day service anywhere on this day 1916. The local community erected a cross of remembrance on a hill up from the village.
