Waste food

Postby laurie53 » Tue May 10, 2022 10:03 am

I've just thrown some organic coleslaw away. It was 10 days past its use by date and I don't like to take chances with mayonnaise, but as I spooned it out of the container it occurred to me that that was the first thing other than bones or coffee grounds that I had put in my food waste bin for weeks, possibly months (the council collects and composts food waste separately.

How about you, do you find yourself wasting much food? For me salads are the worst thing, I can never buy them in small enough quantities for one.

I try not to waste food, but as you say, sometimes you cannot buy small amounts, I do try and freeze a lot, but not all can be frozen,
Salade is the worst, leaves either in big bags or a big size lettuce.
I do grow my own lettuce, even then I have too much and it goes to seed,
