Exciting!

Yesterday Jill and I were out in the garden when we heard a sound like a huge explosion! It turns out it was a meteorite over Wellington, (about 100 km away)

Nothing seems to have been damaged just a very loud noise as the asteroid exploded mid air. As an interesting sideline around about 1421AD a large asteroid hit the sea south west of the South Island causing an undersea impact crater 20 km in diameter and 150 metres deep. This caused a huge tsunami and beach sand was found on Stewart Island 200meters above the sea level and a similar effect on Lord Howe Island and the SE coast of Australia. Also, according to Chinese history, a large fleet of 50 ships exploring the South Pacific was almost entirely destroyed.

Weren't you lucky. Beautiful blue sky here today with white fluffy bits of cloud. We are told that for the next couple of weeks we are having a heatwave. Take care all and big hug for doggie.

We've got foul weather forecast for the next week, but I guess it is mid winter so we can't complain. Hope you don't all melt in the heat!
