Funny Weather.

Postby Penny » Mon Jan 23, 2023 10:35 am

Strange how weather changes, for a week or so now I have looked out to see everywhere covered with frost and with a beautiful clear blue sky. To top it all the days have all been very sunny. We have not seen any snow at all. Has anyone had snow yet. cheers

Can anyone on here remember the winter of 1947 in the UK ?It was the worst winter I have ever lived through.
What with still being on rations and NO central heating then plus powercuts for 8 hours a day.
Even potatoes were put on ration.

Terrible time, hope it never happens again.

Although it is very cold here, we have had a lovely day. Gardener been for a couple of hours. The blue sky is now getting patchy. Hope we get the same tomorrow. cheers

Cold here, I remember the winter of 1962/3 about that time, I had 2 babies and a Silver Cross pram, not easy in the snow.

I had just arrived in London then Widget. I watched my Kiwi flatmate from our upstairs window as he went to work. When nearly at the pavement he fell over on the ice and slid along out to where people were walking. A tall gentleman in a bowler hat and carrying a brief case stepped carefully over Tony and proceeded on his way.

Cannot believe had such a lovely day yesterday and awoke ready for cleaner only to find it is snowing and message from cleaner say she would have to come tomorrow because of this weather. The sky is very dull but snow falling seems very light. Looking out, my poor birds sitting on their nests, I know folk say they are used to it but it doesn't make it any easier to watch them. Can't be any eggs yet but poor things sitting on the branches must be freezing. Please stay warm folk. cheers
