Its been quite an eventful day which started off at 7am this morning with a phone call and good wishes from my son before he went to work.
About 9-30am my neighbour came with a lovely card for us.
While she was here the bouquet below came from my hubby.
After she went I was standing some cards on the window ledge when I noticed my elderly neighbour on the other side of the Close lying on the ground. I realised that she had had a fall.
There were two folk delivering leaflets who were trying to pick her up and I shot across as fast as I could to see if I could be of any help.
She looked dreadful and I went on her Lifeline phone to call the paramedics.
The woman paramedic was with us within 10 minutes and I said we would wait outside while she examined -Joyce- my neighbour. I stood talking to the couple outside for quite a while.
While talking to them I saw another van go up my drive and the driver getting out with another bouquet.
After a while I went back in Joyce's house to ask the paramedic if Joyce was going to be OK.
I was taken aback when Joyce said that she had had a mini stroke two days before.
Anyway the paramedic said that she had not broken anything but was badly bruised and she could take paracetamol.
I got on the phone then to phone Joyce's daughter and just as the phone started to ring her daughter walked in.
I left Joyce in the capable hands of her daughter then.
It was by this time coming up to around 11-30am and my lovely d-i-l was calling for us to take us out for a celebratory lunch.
When d-i-l came she brought this lovely bouquet of peach roses.
Just as d-i-l came the postman came with another load of cards and a parcel from the BBC.
The parcel had a letter in it from the producer aplogising for the errors made when the TV interview was shown.
They had got my name wrong and also said it would be our Golden wedding anniversary.
There were 3 dvds in the parcel with the mistakes all corrected and good wishes from her saying she hopes we have a super day.
Here are all the flowers taken in the garden.
To round off the day when we got back my d-i-l said she would try the phone to see if anyone had phoned me while I had been out.
I was dumbstruck when a message had been left from someone I have been in contact with for some time who lives in the USA.
She lives in California and had phoned to wish us a wonderful anniversary and hopes we will have many more.
I have NO idea where she had my phone number from but I think that was a lovely thing to do from someone I had NEVER met in real life.
It sure has been a memorable day.
