We had a super time.

What a great time we had at the celebration party yesterday.
It finished up with all ages standing including the over 80 year olds waving
their arms about in the air singing "We'll meet again" and "Land of hope and glory"
Into the bargain I had put on the invitations NOT to buy us any presents but a box would be provided if anyone would like to make a donation to the local Childrens Hospice.
I was overwhelmed when I counted it this morning because there is over £400 in money and cheques.
We have had well over 80 cards from well wishers. I cant find any more room to display them. I will keep them all with the flowers off the cake.

It was a fabulous evening and here are a couple of photos. Unfortunately my camera made the cake cutting extremely dark because we stood on the stage but I am hoping that others who took photos have better luck with theirs. I will put some more up once I have them from others who have taken them.

My hairdresser made the cake plus all the flowers which are made out of icing sugar.
She varnished the flowers then so that we could keep them as a keepsake.
It was delicious and the knife went through the icing like a dream.

The cake looked a dream.

Wow, Maisie, that cake looks absolutely wonderful (bet you didn't want to cut it).

And, what a lovely gift you have made to the Children's Hospice - very well done. No wonder you are so well-loved by everyone when you think so much of others before yourself.

And, I must say, you and Cliff look very well and happy in the photo - let's hope that there are many more celebrations to come.

Bless you all.
I couldn't have wished for a better night.
Even the youngsters mixed in with the elderly.
I have had a few phone calls this morning thanking us for the super 'do'.

I had this e-mail earlier today from someone I met on the net some time ago. It wasn't until I was in the hospital that I met her for the first time when she and her hubby came in the hospital to see me.
I must admit this little thankyou e-mail brought a tear to my eye because she is has gone through hell with having cancer and and looking after her parents. Her father has Alzeimhers and her mother crippled with Rheumatoid arthritis.

Dearest Maisie and Cliff

Just dropping a short mail to thank you so very much for a wonderful time last night.
I even managed to drag John on to the floor for a couple of dances and that is unheard of for him so, well done to you two.

I managed the conga and the Hokey Cokey but did have to take my shoes off to jump in and out!!!!!!

Oh Cliff. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house when you asked for 'When your old wedding ring was new' for Maisie, I know mine was wet and I heard a lot of sniffles round and about me.

You really are a wonderful couple and we wish you many many more happy years together - errrr don't forget us at your 70th bash!!!!!!!!!!

Tons of Love and biggest hugs to you both,
Di and John xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Wonderful and memorable celebrations and no wonder everyone loves you. So thoughtful of the lady to varnish the flowers on the cake, so you can keep them. She is very artistic, isn't she?

Many thanks Hazel and Anya.

There were a few tears as well as laughter because my lovely granddaughter was off to Chester University the next day.
She came to me and hugged me tight saying "I will miss Mum and Dad and Granddad a lot Grandma but I will miss you most of all."
You can just imagine how I felt.
Here is a photo of her with a young girl who has just lost her mother to cancer last month. Tami ( granddaughter ) looked after her all evening so that she wouldn't feel lonely.
