Dust Storm

Postby Lacemaker » Wed Sep 23, 2009 8:50 am

We woke up this morning to find the whole of the clouds in the sky had taken on an orange colour. In fact, when I walked out of the bedroom at about 7 am the glow from the bathroom looked as though I had left the light on all night and looking outside it was so eerie.

Naturally the first thing I thought of was the camera but since I wasn't dressed, the only photos I could take were in the back garden. On the TV News they were saying that all the ferries on Sydney Harbour had been cancelled due to lack of visibility and people were being told not to travel unless they really had to since Sydney Airport was closed. People with respiratory problems were also advised to stay at home. The link below is to our Sky News.

My photo below is as it came from the camera - no editing at all. I now have a reddish orange car instead of a white one !

It does look scarey. I saw it on the news this morning. Hopefully it will clear up soon.

What a beautiful photo though, despite of everything you have been able to produce it without any doctering. Your oka, thats the main thing.

Thanks Dita.

At the last report, the storm had reached Brisbane so Ozzy should be getting it soon.

It might have been him that caused it......

I'd be really shocked if I woke up to that, Lacey, it looks so weird, but the pictures are fantastic.

Glad you're OK.

Thanks deja - as the day progressed the storm moved north and this morning everything appears to be back to normal apart from the sun having a funny glow to it as though it was shining through smoke during a bushfire.

It made me wonder if that was what it was like on Mars, Monika.

Amazing photo. Saw the news about the dust storm, has it happened before, Lacey? It will take some cleaning.

Apparently we have had lots of dust storms without realising it but this one happened to be the worst for at least 70 years.

Well I doubt very much if Lacey noticed the dust storm as she seldom dusts indoors!!!! That is something she and Rowan have in common!!!

Anyway I am sure it will all blow over quite soon................
