As you may already know that when we had our 60th wedding anniversary celebration I requested folk NOT
to buy us anything but if they would like to give to my favourite charity- Rainbows Childrens Hospice -
then we would be more than happy.
I thought you might like to see this below.
We have just received this card plus a lovely letter from Rainbows to thank us for the donation. Every little helps.

Well done Maisie. I feel llike that too nowadays - nothing I want really and certainly don't need anything and people giving to my favourite charity instead of buying a present seems much better. At our wedding we told people we didn't want gifts but if folk wanted to they could donate to a charity. Much more worthwhile and satisfying.

My sister and I have been doing this every Christmas for the past six or seven years now.

We buy each other birthday presents but, at Christmas, we send the monies we would have spent on Christmas presents to each other and our respective husbands, to charity.

We tell each other which charity we want the monies sending to and we all think it's better than wracking our brains to find stuff to buy - which we neither want nor need.

What we've found is to send it anonymously because if you don't, you are inundated ever after and, anyway, I like to ring the changes so that each year I nominate a different charity.

I have regular e-mails from Rainbows Monika to let me know what events are in the offing BUT they dont pester me for donations.

Its not an enormous sum but it helps towards running costs to make these poor youngsters lives a little better.
