A morning at Ikea.

A morning at Ikea.

Postby caroljoyce » Tue Dec 01, 2009 8:47 pm

I spent a nice morning on sunday going round Ikea with my son and his partner.
I'm buying them presents for the home for Christmas this year and Ikea filled the bill.... I got them a shoe rack, 2 pictures for the bedroom wall and 2 matching table lamps for the bedside tables.
That's them sorted. :sunglasses:

Do you like Ikea?

Its great when you know exactly what they would like. I'm having trouble thinking of things to give my two nieces, their children are no bother but they are a nightmare!!

I quite like looking round IKEA but usually end up with a load of things I don't really need. If you are furnishing on a budget it seems to be good value.

Great value for money if you are living in the modern world.
This doesn't suit us as we have a mock beamed house and all the olde worlde things that appeal to us, plus a farmhouse kitchen.

We are a bit twee and have furniture harking back to the late 1960s but it's ERCOL and we love the modern lines of our dining room suite ans sideboard and some other bits and bobs in ERCOl Not everyone likes this make.

We have a comfy Dralon three peice suite and its years old but only needs aclean. we have photos on our piano which is an old Berry upright and pics all over the place except in our bedroom.

Well they do have a load of stuff to choose from. I bought a sofa bed (futon) for Sean's room in IKEA but it was too big so we changed it for a chair futon. Gave the sofa to my sister for her spare room.

My spare (Sean's) room is very small but I really would like a proper bed for it - trouble is I am a hoarder and I've got the ironing (two big bathfuls), two computers and loads of other stuff all in there too. What I need to do is measure everything and get something custom made for us. I wonder if I could get the things I need in IKEA.

The rest of the house is pretty traditional furniture, I like dark wood and we have a heavy leather suite. I love my bed which is a sleigh bed, in wood with a memory foam mattress - pure bliss!!

Thanks Liz - I have never been to Ikea, either.

I have been to Habitat. Does it count?
