You should see my street - everybody has outdone each other with the bliddy fairy lights, santas, reindeer etc etc Looks like bliddy New York!! Think of their carbon footprints!! I'll just have the christmas tree up, nothing else.

I don't know whether Young Goat can find any pictures, but there is a self-styled (happy clappy) bishop living near his home who plasters his house and garden every year. He took me round to see it once!

I find it all very, very tacky! I have also found that those people who do this are often the most unchristian people you would wish to meet. It often seems that the most unchristian folk celebrate Christmas far harder than anyone else!

Bath has new lights this year (overhead) and I have to say I find them very, very tasteful. They are merely white (no coloured bulbs) hanging in swoops and balls with lights going on and off in rotation which produces a sparkling effect. Well done Bath & North East Somerset Council!

DL, that sounds tasteful and pretty. I always prefer white lights in decorations. Bath is a place I can't imagine tackiness!

I have tracked down the Bishop myself (see he got appointed Bishop by someone in the USA so he may be a real one). There are no photos of his house and garden all lit up unfortunately! I see, from my search, he married Jade Goody and her boy friend!

I took some photos, I know, on the night we went round there to have a look but unfortunately they did not come out very well. However, I can tell you that there was hardly a square inch of house or garden that was not covered in lights etc!

It's just soooo tacky. I do like to see white lights in a cascade but all that coloured lights are just vulgar.
