Cameras

Does anyone on here know anything about camera's? I have an old Yashica-A, I think it dates back to about 1958.

I have been tidying out some cupboards today and there is was. I put it away years ago as I never used it. But now I am wondering if it might be worth "a few bob".
This is it. Oh I forgot to say I have been onto google but can't find anything except this picture.

One sold on ebay not long ago, give you some idea.

However I know a man who is into this sort of thing and sold some of his old cameras for a fair bit of dosh so I shall ask.

Why don't you have a go Liz? Might be worth it.

I don't know where in Norfolk you live Liz but in Nelson Place in Dereham there is a "proper" camera shop "The Norfolk Camera Centre" if it is not too far it might be well worth a visit.

Oooh, I have got an old 1920s box camera (think it's a Kodak) with a broken shutter spring. I wonder if that's worth anything?

Thanks clevewyn, I had a look, £90 would be better in my purse than the camera sitting there in the cupbard.

VM, Dereham not too far from me, so in the new year I am going to go and take the camera into the shop you have suggested. Will let you know how I get on.

Thanks for your advice. I knew if anyone would be able to help me someone on here would :)

WOW !!! I had one of those !!!!! With case and accessories. My uncle was a semi-professional photographer and he passed some of his old cameras to me, when I was a teenager and started taking an interest. Including a real Rolleicord twin-lens-reflex, various Olympuseseses and all sorts.

There's a specialist shop in the town, with a camera museum. I took the cameras there and they quoted me a price for each. They give a percent to charity of anything they sell.

Liz - Perhaps there is a similar shop, near you?

Hubby says can you tell him what the details are of the bottom lens. Can't quite make it out. Pity you are not near the camera place mentioned by V.M. very good. cheers Penny
