Wartime Kitchen

A one hour special Ration Book Britain will be shown on the television channel Yesterday on the 15th of this month
with Valentine Warner testing out the best food in his new TV programme according to my Best Of British magazine.
It should be quite interesting for those who like cooking. I dont like cooking but I will watch it for nostalgic reasons.
He will be discovering the tips and tricks that millions of housewives used in the 14 years of rationing to make what little food they had taste delicious plus some recipes that never caught on and tasted yucky.

( Sky channel 537, Virgin Media channel 203, Freeview channel 12. )

Saw a simiar one a few weeks ago Maisie and it got me sorting out my books. Found one of wartime recipes and from it they had shown how to make a mock duck, made with lentils potatoes and rice. Looked good but not one I would taste. cheers Penny.
