Has anyone been watching this? Absolutely fascinating.
It takes you through WW2 and the rationing and many recipes that the women had to concoct then out of the meagre rations to feed a family.
Its brought back many memories and is a great history channel.
The channel is called 'Yesterday' and according to the TV magazine that I have it can be found on Freeview 12, Sky 537 or Virgin 203 if anyone likes history.

Wartime Kitchen and Garden and Rationbook Britain have been on Freeview Channel 12 most of today.

Something interesting to watch on a wet miserable day.

It brought back SO many memories of those years.
One thing that really fascinated me was the enamel saucepans and dishes used. My mother had all enamel saucepans and meat tins and believe it or not I still have one of her dishes plus two enamel pie plates.

I had eaten most of the recipes shown and if folk had to eat like that now not only would they would be FAR healthier and have less heart attacks there would be fewer obese families around.
