Memories.

Except Personal Attacks

Memories.

Good Morning everyone.
It teemed it down during the night and its still overcast and grey looking.
I have just been to change the perpetual calendar and it brought many memories back when putting the date right because my sister got married on this date in 1943. Unfortunately it was a case of having to.
It was a utilty wedding but my mother did her best with being on rations.
It was 30 years later when my sister came to me and said she had left her husband. I said if he had been mine I would have left the b****r 30 minutes after the ceremony never mind putting up with his womanising ways for 30 years. He even tried his tricks on me when I got older until I doubled him up with a kick in the goolies.
I think he is still alive but my sister died 25 years ago from a severe heart attack.
God where have all the years gone??????????
Isn't it odd how something can trigger the memory and many long forgotten memories emerge.?

Oh Maisie, you are a scream with how you tell 'em!
I am sorry your sister died quite young. Poor woman, staying true to a so-and-so.

But thinking of you kicking him in the goolies. You may not be tall but you can pack a painful punch.

I can just imagine you too. Did he ever speak to you again I wonder?

Yes it's funy how looking at something can trigger a memory... or a certain song that comes on the radio.
It happens to me a lot.

Yes he spoke to me Carol, if he had not done it would have had to come out what he had tried because it would have aroused the family's awareness that something was amiss and I didn't want my sister to be upset by that sod. :huffin:

He never tried his wandering hand session again on me. :roflmao:

Good for you Maisie - isn't it good now that there is no stigma on having babies with no husband - no stigma on mum and no stigma on the child. In those days, as probably these days too although we hear otherwise through the media, it was the more innocent girls who got "caught".

Memories
Light the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were.

How about a happy memories thread Evie.

I was reading Maisie's post and that song popped into my head ... and here you are, having already mentioned it.

BTW, Maisie, you aren't the only one who has had to use a good swift kick to the huevos. Well, knee to the huevos, actually.

I look back to the time I was a teenager and happy days in the late 50's and up to mid 60's. At 16/17 Not a care in the world, and crazy about my boyfriend (my husband) I had a job I enjoyed with the GPO and Mum & Dad who were devoted, a good nucleus family of aunts, uncs and cousins who were all close, who kept their personal lives to themselves and were happy enough after surviving WW2.

All my rellies seemed happy enough and got on well. Cousins mixed and we all lived close in a commumity but even when Mum & Dad moved we kept up the links with our rellies on boith sides of the family.
I am blessed with these memories but realise how quickly circumstances can change one's life around with alarming speed. I have had some seriuously bad times too over the dedcades.

I've been going to a hypnotist to help with stopping smoking and I have been transported back to a place where I felt safe and happy - granda's garden. How peaceful it was and what lovely tastings we did there - peas, swedes, strawberries, rasps!!##Yes, let's have a happt memory thread - who'll start it?
