Update on Bill's brother in law.

Postby mo » Sat Sep 04, 2010 5:33 am

About four weeks ago, I wrote saying that Stan, Bill's brother in law, fell off a ladder and down the stairs and was in a coma.
Yesterday thankfully, he opened his eyes for the first time. He recognised his wife, Bill's sister but still cant' speak, just squeezes her hand while she is talking to him.
The consultant now thinks he had a stroke which caused him to lose his balance, as one side of his body is paralised.
He is still in a critical condition as they are concerned of the damage caused when he banged his head on the radiator.
But thankfully his is gradually progressing.

That is good news - his wife must be comforted that he can recognise her. Lets hope each day brings more improvement.

Sadly Bill's brother in law will not be getting better, unless a mirracle happens. He will be spending the rest of his life in a nursing home.
He is paralised and in constant pain and is being fed through the stomach.
He can manage a few words with difficulty, one being "I'm in so much pain."

Jane, Bill's sister is giving up her 4 bedroom council house and will be moving to a small bungalow to live near the home.
Thankfully one of her sons and his family live near to her.
So sad.

We don't have to be old for these things to happen.
We never know what's around the corner, so let us enjoy every minute of each day.
