Hubby and I will have been married for 61 years
on the 17th of September and my son and lovely d-i-l are taking us away
on the day to Norfolk for a long weekend before the winter sets in.
Its what one might call an accompanied delayed honeymoon because
when we got married in 1949 rations were still in force and we could
not afford any honeymoon then.
It will be the first time we have ever been away for an anniversary.
Our married life has not been a bed of roses and we have had many a 'set-to'
over the years just the same as most folk but we got through mainly
because there was give and take on both sides with plenty of humour to go with it.
We have had a good life to look back on even though we had no money
to spare for the best part of it and had to struggle to eke the food out
during the first years of our marriage.
I have very often wanted to take a door off its hinges and wrap
it over my hubby's head and he has felt the same about me but we survived
and now fit together like a comfortable pair of old shoes.
