Hospital Verdict.

Hospital Verdict.

Postby Maywalk » Wed Oct 06, 2010 10:01 pm

I was wired up to a machine for about 30 minutes which was taking a graph of my heart.
The conclusion is that there IS an agitation there but when I have one of these passing out bouts and whoever is with me puts the activator on top of the loop recorder I am shaking so much the recorder isn't recording properly.
I didn't see a consultant but the graph will be sent to him for him to study it more closely. I am hoping to hear about it in a fortnights time. I have got to make an appointment with my doctor to see what the outcome is and perhaps then look into whether it could be Epilepsy.
Meanwhile I still have to keep the loop recorder in for two years with a check up every three months and the activator still has to be used if I have any more passing out bouts plus I will have to let the hospital know but if the bout is too severe I will be taken to hospital and kept there, for further observation.
I am still in limbo and no further advanced at the moment. Oh the joys of getting old.

Arrrh poor Maisie, I hope the 2 weeks go quickly and they can give you some precise information as to what is causing the blackouts. The hospital have reacted quite rapidly to your case and I'm sure they will get to bottom of it. Keep your chin up and stay positive as always. Sending good wishes as always xxxxxx

Oh Maisie, poor you. But at least the test has yielded a solution and the consultant will follow it up with his own detective work. It must be so frightening to pass out like that, and important there is always someone with you.

Let's hope there will not be any more bouts though.

Uncertainty is always difficult, isn't it? Keeping everything crossed for you, including knives, forks and saucepan lids. How are you getting on with the cleaner? :grouphug:

Many thanks to all you lovely folk for the encouraging words.

This has been going on since Easter Monday when I had the first blackout in the car on the way home
after having a lovely day out shopping with my granddaughter and d-i-l and I finished up in hospital for nearly a week.
Ah well I mustn't grumble there are folks a darn sight worse off than me.

Wht a shame Maisie, I hope they find out soon. Would it not be quite unusual for something like epilepsy to suddenly start now? Growing old ain't for cissies! :choklit:

Sorry to hear this, Maisie! All those check-ups too and the sitting around waiting until you get called - soul destroying!

Hope they determine the cause of your "turns" very soon and can do something about it!
