PANTA PAWS.
Would you like to read my story; I am a rescue dog you see
I had been badly treated until someone took custody of me
I am not especially handsome and I have no pedigree at all
I am bow legged with a long body and I am not very tall.
One day a family came to the kennels where I was a resident
And strangely they took to my odd looks so off with them I went.
They re-named me Bitza and I have not the faintest reason why
I soon settled in and showed my new family that I was not shy.
I sensed excitement in the house that rubbed off on to me
And dad came home one day with a six foot Christmas tree,
I thought it was for me at first but I didn’t like the prickles
“No it is not for you Bitza come here and have some tickles.”
They said someone called Santa would leave me a nice treat
And as he came from Lapland we probably wouldn’t meet.
The tree was decorated with tinsel and lots of glittery stuff
And I gave my approval with an occasional WUFF,WUFF.
It was finally Xmas Eve and the whole house quietly slept
When suddenly I saw a figure, across the floor he crept
I grabbed a red coat in my teeth as he reached for the wine
I tugged at him thinking I will stop this thieving swine
“ Get off Bitza, don’t you know your master, let go of me”
He tried to get me off him but unfortunately he fell into the tree
The whole lot crashed down just as my mum rushed in
“Oh my goodness what has happened whatever is that din?”
Dad sat there looking dazed with his hat and beard askew
“Oh Bitza you are brave” mum said “I am so proud of you
Because it might have been a real burglar who had broken in
He would have taken the lot and that would have been a sin”
My dad forgave me for what I did and we had a wonderful time
I do hope I have not bored the readers with my little rhyme.
