Mine all came down yesterday. Couldn't untangle one set of lights, so lost my temper and cut them off the tree.........

We always take ours down on the 2nd of Jan.
I hate taking them down It all seems soo bare especially the lovely display I place on the mantleshelf, garlands and soft flashing lights.

I always thought you had to leave them up until the twelfth night of Christmas which I think is Jan 6th

Decorations inside come down the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve.

I can't bring myself to take down the outside decorations that soon. But I make myself pack them up January 1st. Everything looks so bare afterwards.

I leave the decorations to the very last minute, they brighten up the place and it looks very bare for a day or two. Before midnight on Fifth January is supposed to be the rule. Unless I am going away before that, in which case I take them down before I go.

Trago Mills sell prepared hyacinths for 20p each, I buy a dozen every year and get them ready to flower, just as the decorations come down, for a bit of colour. After that they go in the garden and make a huge display every year. I must have hundreds and hundreds, by now.
