Our youngest daughters wedding on a tight budget.

Postby mo » Thu Jan 06, 2011 12:30 am

Well two weeks before Christmas Lisa and her fiance Graham of eighteen months
told us that they had decided to get married on 4th Jan 2011.
It was both their second marriages.
It was a bit of a shock just after Christmas butLisa said they just wanted to have a
civil service wedding without any fuss so decided to do it quickly.

But she announced it on face book and it then backfired
as all her friends read it and wanted to be there.
So the little wedding became bigger than expected so she also invited immediate family.
With only a small budget as it was just after Christmas, some of their friends
helped out for free, one a beauticion who made her face up,
one made over fifty of the wedding cup cakes, and one proffessional photographer took their photos.

The landlord of one of the pubs that Lisa and Graham sometimes gig at,
( they are a proffessional singing duo) let them have for free the downstairs bar
and indoor adventure playground (for the children) to use as the wedding reception
and three of their proffessional singing friends helped to entertain at the reception.

We paid for the buffet which was delicious and soo reasonable.

And only on just over £1,500 for everything including the wedding clothes except the rings
it really was a lovely wedding and everyone said what a great time they had.
It just goes to proove that if you shop around and have great friends, a wedding need not cost the earth.

Here are a couple of the photos that we took.

Amelie, lisa's daughter almost 4, Lisa, Graham (or should I say Ricky Gervais.
Gosh doesn't he look like him? Ha ha) and Charlotte, Graham's eldest daughter.

I am so glad it was such a lovely day, Mo. If you had not said Charlotte was Graham's daughter, I would think she was on your side of the family because she seems to bear a resemblance!

Thank you for those kind words J/J and Corrie.
She managed to sing a couple of songs at the reception but she said her throat was burning but the adrenalin of it all kept her going.
