Looking for ancestry

Why is it..........

Postby Oddquine » Sun Apr 02, 2006 12:02 am

that overseas people researching their Fraser genealogy.........particularly Americans, .....mostly seem to think that Simon Fraser of Lovat impregnated every female within a hundred mile radius............. given the numbers who not only claim to be of the Fraser of Lovat clan, but are directly descended from the "Old Fox" himself?

Highland ancestry must be more romantic than the lowland version!

We are always being asked if we are descendants of Winston, but I can't say that research has thrown up any links. Number one son did bear a remarkable resemblnce at birth though, all the nurses called him Winston.

I was once asked by a school teacher if my family were descended from the Lovat clan. I had absolutely no idea who or what they where. My maiden name was Lovett and there is no connection to Scotland at all.
