I have been trying for years to grow a gardenia as I just love the scent but in frosty areas I have had no success - till now. I have nursed one along in a pot and have just had my first flower. I wish I could post a bit of the scent as well as the picture - it is the real thing! Does anyone else grow them?

That's a lovely flower, Granny Eve.

I don't think that we can grow them outdoors in the UK as it is too cold but I've grown them indoors with some success in the past.

To Rowan, thanks for introducing this new topic. :D

That's a beautiful plant Granny Eve. You are lucky living in such a warm place.

I would love to grow orchids, but I don't have suitable conditions in my house for them.

I have got a Bonsai, which I was going to attempt to repot, myself - until I was told that it doesn't need doing - thank goodness.
But, it does require training and pruning - and that is a specialist job. So I am off to the Bonsai Society meeting with it in a couple of weeks time.

And I thought this was supposed to be a serious topic.

Er - they have to be very sharp, Monsy.

I have never grown orchids, Emm, but my sister in law grows them for export and every year sends me an enormous boquet of "seconds". They look perfect to me.
