My bonsai.

Postby Emm » Sun Apr 30, 2006 5:27 pm

Bet you thought there was going to be a picture.
I did have one, but it is long gone.
:cheeky4:

Sooooo, I gave my tree to the man who offered to prune it for me.
He told me that it needed repotting - into a much smaller pot.
And here was me, going to attempt to put it into a bigger pot - thinking it needed it!!!!
Anyway - he has done it for me. But, now it can't be pruned for a year, as it has to settle again.
He said it looks nice and healthy, but in the new pot, the next month is crucial. So he has still got it.

This hobby really is long term, I should have started when I was still at school.

Huh, trust Widget.
I will have a look amongst my CDs, and see if I put it on there.

The bonsai man doesn't live locally, so I can't go and take a picture.
:rolleye11:

No - haven't got a picture. This is the sort it is though. This one is 70 years old. Mine is about 7 - and not pruned yet.

It's a wonder the roots flourish in that tiny little pot.

That is why I was so surprised when I was told my tree needed to be in a smaller pot.

Widget - this is a bonsai I planted myself last year - another, far too big pot!!!
Don't ask me the name of the tree, because I can't for the life of me remember it.
It is just starting to come back into leaf.

I would love a bonsai as well but I kill plants too. Mind you, not had any for a while so maybe its time to try again.

Well, apparently even the experts can manage to lose them.

This is the one I put the picture of earlier.
I had to bring it indoors to take the photo - as it is blowing a gale outside.
I have a funny feeling that it is growing taller though.

I will be getting my other one back next week.

After I come back from holiday I will go to the garden centre and get myself one to start with to see how I get on with it. That one's lovely Emm.
