What the....?

Postby Monsy » Mon Aug 07, 2006 7:04 pm

Something has ate huge holes in all my plants. I have searched for slugs and snails at night - nothing. There is no blackfly or anything else that I can see. They are looking in a very sorry state. All my lobelia have died as well, and my azalea bush has turned up its toes.

Sounds like you have had a swarm of something passing through.

:dunno:

It says they eat rhododendrons, mine is fine!

I can't see anything. I've been removing the dead ones, so next time, I'll check the roots :magnify:

Isn't it disheartening?

My garden is usually a picture at this time of the year, but it's an absolute DISASTER this year.

It is crawling with spider mite and has infested nearly all my plants,so after only finding it on Saturday, I am cutting just about everything down to ground level and hoping my perennials come back next year.

The horrible little 'you know whats' have even killed the tops of Brian's potatoes and are sucking the runner beans dry.

To top it all up, our connifer hedge which is about 30 foot long is turning brown and we've been told it has got 'conifer aphid.

I feel I could cry!

Come on, Maureen JC, the words for "Life Gets Tedious, Don't it"
If at first you don't succeed, sky diving isn't for you!

It must have been the hot dry weather Monika. Probably gave all these wee nasties a foothold.

I'm just binning mine and keeping the bushes. It is disheartening though, for a wee while my pokey wee backyard looked a picture

Monsey try looking at this site www.bbc,co.uk and go to the gardening page, it has a pest and diseases help page.
