Jack Straw.

Is Jack Straw right in asking that Muslim women stop wearing veils especially when they go to visit him seeking help and or advice?

If he is right then should we not adopt the same rules as France where all religious symbols are banned?

I think he has as much right to ASK them to remove their veils, as they do to refuse, should they so choose

I have to say I would like to see all religious symbols banned and also think Deja is right too.

This form of dress is probably OK for the sandy, windswept deserts of the Middle East, but is completely unsuited for wearing in England and in these days of increasing terrorism, a definite security risk. It should be completely banned in public.

Well I think they should be banned in public, after all we would all like to see hoodies banned for similar sorts of reasons.

Exactly Suzi - how can you size up a person when you can't see their expressions. It would amaze you just how much we rely on expressions and gesture and not only what people say with their mouths.

On a visit to local the post office yesterday (still managing to remain open) ,our postmaster told me he has backing from the management to ask people to remove crash helmets, baseball caps, and hoods in the Post Office but not veils.
