Nurse struck off for filming with Panorama

Postby Rowan » Thu Apr 16, 2009 4:39 pm

A 58 year old nurse has been struck off for filming with Panorama the neglect of elderly patients in a hospital. She had complained about this previously and nothing had been done so she did this to highlight the plight of elderly patients.

I think this is appalling - she should have been congratulated and rewarded. I hope she appeals this decision and gets the wherewithal to appeal from the makers of Panorama.

I read that Eve and was absolutely disgusted obviously the protection of "the system" if far more important than the plight of the neglected victims.

I don't like this country or what it has become.

Absolutely disgusting and what a paltry excuse for the decision, breaching the patients confidentiality, the relatives of those old dears in the programme should stand up and defend her

The system is indeed protecting itself

Sad she has been struck off for defending the patients she was caring for. A terrible injustice. Clever how they are quick to hide behind Confidentiality Laws. :tantrum2:

I don't know, Eve. Like so many wrongs in the UK I feel that nothing can be done except rant and rave, tutt and mumble. I would like to do something really positive but have no idea what. :huffin:

I too am shocked by this decision, and the filming took place at our Brighton hospital so I know how disgusting our old folk are treated. Even after the programme, my father was in the hospital flat on his back with a fractured spine. He didn't get fed until my brother and I visited

My D I L said the same thing about her Mum who had suffered a bad stroke, she bathed her, fed her and was so distressed, her Mum died a couple of months later.

The saying. "Therefore By The Grace Of God Goes I" springs to mind :groaner:

If the political parties stopped being concerned with their egos, their expenses and their “Please sir he said nasty things about me” complaints and stopped pi**ing about with sound bites and did something REAL about cases like this, police methods and the things that really do concern us the electors then just maybe in time they would win back our respect.
