Below is some text copied from a news report:

The country's main nuclear submarine base has been hit by a series of safety breaches, including leaks of radioactive waste, it is reported.

In a confidential report released under the Freedom of Information Act, the Ministry of Defence described safety failings at Faslane, on the Gare Loch near Glasgow, as a "recurring theme".

The worst breaches include three leaks of radioactive coolant from nuclear submarines in 2004, 2007 and 2008 into the Firth of Clyde.

An MoD spokesman said: "The discharges into the Gare loch had no environmental consequences. The MoD is a responsible nuclear operator and informed the appropriate regulatory authorities.

Isn't marvellous that the UK radioactive stuff never poses any harm to anybody or anything, locally or otherwise.? Cor ..... talk about lucky! :tantrum2: :tantrum2:

They think we're all daft, Rowan.

And, they want more and more nuclear power stations because, according to them, they are 'clean'.

They think we don't know that they're only clean when they're up and running (and not leaking on occasion); heaven help those who come after they've closed down and for some centuries at that, when they show themselves to be utterly filthy, health-hazards that they still don't know how to dispose of safely.

At least if we're burning fossil fuels we're only poisoning our own generation, not our offspring, ad infinitum.

I remember driving up from that there England some years back and being slowed down almost to a hault by police motor bikers. After what seemed like ages the traffic caught up with two very slow moving lorries all in black. These were transporting nuclear weapons up the main bliddy road in broad day light....

The one thing we can take for granted is that we were informed these leeks were not dangerous.......aye right.
