PCSO's

What do you feel about PCSO's in your town/city/village?

Purely a cosmetic move by the government IMO and not effective in cracking down on crime. There is only one way to crack down on crime is to get reall bobbies with dogs on the beat and scare the **** our=t of mayn crims! :tantrum2:
I am all for tough but fair. We have a few in town and one young lass who looks so vulnerable walking about alone. Luckily violence is very rare in our semi rural town...at the moment!

I think they get a raw deal !
They should get more training, and be given full power of arrest, and be called Deputy Constables

What are PCSO's? Is this something only for England and wales or is it just a new thing we don't have yet?

I agree with Keith where I live I think they are doing a better job and are better value than the so-called proper policemen.

They are sometimes called Blunketts Plastic Bobbies :dunno:

I think they do the best they can around here, given their limited powers, they are always friendly and helpful and I also think they get a raw deal :tantrum2:

We don't have them, we have police community officers and the team we have are really very good.

My friend's daughter started as a PCSO a few years ago after getting a degree in Theology :dunno:

Then after two years she applied to train as a 'real' copper and is well into that, keen on her job, married last week and buying a house that is convenient to her police station at Windsor.

Thing is.......she is a very beautiful girl and I can't help thinking it could be a hindrance while patrolling the underbelly of Berks (and there IS one there, like everywhere)

I don't know - since I had the problem with prowlers, and unfortunately it is ongoing, the previously unnoticed patrol of community team (two PCSO's and a WPC, have neen very attentive in checking to see I am all right. The PCSO I see most is a petite girl, maybe without the muscle but exceedingly businesslike and reassuring. She calls me Viv and I call her Ceri (her spelling of Kerry!) It is good to know they are around but I agree they should have more powers.
