I used to have this happen years ago but can't remember what I used to do in trouble-shooting.

You know, when the square comes up with Error 0x800CCC0E. Protocol POP3 etc.

I am feeling useless at the moment and was expecting emails!

If you have Chrome Cleaner or similar installed, start by doing a registry clean-up. If your PC is getting cluttered up with old fragments of deleted files & emails, these could have clogged the system.

You don't say which operating system or email client you're using but, if it's Outlook Express with Windows XP or something earlier, this page might be helpful: http://preview.tinyurl.com/whtv

There is also information at: http://preview.tinyurl.com/kb9qmj5

There is a free download available which claims to fix this error - see http://preview.tinyurl.com/jw5nzgv - but, as always, be careful about what you download!

If all else fails, you may have to de-install and then re-install your email client but let's hope it doesn't come to that
Hope this helps.

I sometimes get that error, I usually just log out and leave it a few mins, then visit the forum again and its ok.

It finally came right just now, after 24 hours jiggery-pokery.
Seems it was THEM, not me;-

"Thanks for emailing us about your email issue.

I apologise for the inconvenience this matter is causing you.

I understand that you are unable to access your email account due to username and password issues. It has been identified that Tiscali customers are experiencing authentication issues when accessing webmail or via email client. Our System Engineers have advised that they have identified an issue which may cause problems for some customers. Following corrective works carried out by our engineers and the third party Support Engineers, this incident has now been tagged as resolved. Testing has been carried out by the Real-time Team with impacted customers who have confirmed service restoration".
