Postby Suzi Wong » Thu Aug 10, 2006 1:26 pm

One of the circuit boards in my pc is making a very loud grinding noise, weve managed to track down where it's coming from, have taken it out, cleaned all the yuk off, and don't know what to do now
I wan't to buy another but where do I go :magnify:

Help :please:

Dunno Suzi - are you sure that's what the problem is?

Try googling for a place that sells them.

Yup.

We were messing about for ages cleaning fans and stuff then suddenly realised where the noise was coming from, it's a board with a very small fan underneath it.
I begrudge asking Dave (bloke who built it) to look at it as I think he has ripped us off in the past, the really annoying thing is, when you open these pooters up......there's bugger all inside them

Take it in Maplins or a computer shop and see what it's called. Then go on the net and see how much the prices vary.............

Would we had 69er, he would have have sorted it for you by now.........

If it was making a noise Suzi, it's probably the bearings in the fan that have collapsed. The boards probably OK. The last time I bought a fan for my motherboard it cost about £5.00.
If it is the board, get the details of it and Google for them, they're lots of circuit board manufacturers out there.

Oooh thanks Polter
Sussed it, I took the label off the board and googled for it, it seems to be the graphics card making a noise from the small fan underneath it.
I can either go for a new card for 32 quid or a new fan for under a tenner

It makes me so angry though when I keep looking at how much work HASN'T gone into it

OR you can just fasten all the screws up tighter and find that it solves the problem :rolleye11:
