Looks as if if your 'puter ain't a server, you should be OK with decent firewalls and Virus protection.......................but I do hope that there isn't still anyone stupid enough to have the pane which automatically opens emails working in their OE or Thunderbird.........that is just looking for trouble.

Frankly, I think that Windoze is absolute crap.......bugs out the ying-yang..............and, one of these days, when I ain't doing animal and building maintenance, I'm going to have a go at Linux.

Oddquine. Hello swiss is back.
I read the word LINUX in your last post.
I have on my old Dell computer Linux.
Have been trying it for a long time but never got very far.
Last Month I installed *Fedora Core5". it is the English version and it seams to be easier to work with.
I have my e-Banking there and I am told it is safer.
It would be nice to have someone to compare notes with.

Polter I see that you are a Worker (that is the wrong word) should it be Developer.
I am only a User and get in a mess with things that are not compatible.
I started trying to learn Scribus but find it hard to understand.

I have just bought a new Dell , now I am Broke.
My work table is full to burst as I have one computer (new Dell)with IE in German and the old Dell with Linux in English.
That's my life, sometimes too complicated. :groaner:

Hi Doreen - long time no see! I think you can change the language in IE by going to Tools - Options, if that is what you want to do.

Yes Dragon Lady but when I do this it also changes my Keyboard and I have a German keyboard.
It doesn't matter. I can work in both Languages.
I am going to spend the winter, which will last 3 months, learning.
I find Adobe Photoshop difficult so I am getting down to that.

I am not very good at Forum chatting but I enjoy my Computer and Internet.

D'you mean the Preview Pane in OE Oddquine? Only I always have that on. But.... the mail does go through Mailwasher before downloading and I do have a virus checker which checks all my e-mails, well, everything I download, as I download it, plus a firewall.
As for the Microsoft Updates, well, the last couple mucked up my security settings something awful! Caused me a ever such a lot of hassle! There were some sites I couldn't access or use the tools on and I couldn't answer any surveys without a blasted little pop-up box asking me if I wanted to use my clipboard or not! No matter what I answered, the damn thing wouldn't go away and I couldn't go any further. Microsoft are marvellous for altering your settings without telling you aren't they?

Only because (as mentioned in another thread) Macs; having a relatively smaller number of users; aren't targeted like PCs running Windows are. That is changing fast as Macs become more widely used.
