Help please

Postby Victors Mate » Thu Jan 25, 2007 3:05 pm

Sorry to be a thick pest again but I have a problem that some-one might be able to help me with. If you can I would be very grateful.

Windows 98se
ISP Wanado (dial up)
Outlook Express 5.50

Problem
Records at bottom of screen show the number of messages and unread messages but where these should be listed there is an immoveable Orange search bar.
Also the box which should allow switching from Inbox to deleted box, sent box etc. is blank.
When I switch to my wife’s identity everything is as it should be.

The view box in both cases is set to Show all messages.

Everything was working properly until yesterday.
I have run AVG, Spybot, Tauscan and my Outpost Pro is switched on and functioning normally.

If anyone can help please I would be very grateful.

Can't you repair the installation, VM?

Do you get that option in the add/remove programs?

Looks like corrupt set-up files for your ID...........might be worth deleting your OE ID and setting it up again.

Thanks Oddie but the man from Archer Consultants is coming tomorrow which knowing my track record for fault fixing is probably the wisest option.

All solved now.

Just in case anyone runs into anything similar what "the very nice man" did was go into View, then into Layout and then untick the info panel.
How it got ticked in the first place Lord above only knows.

Dear VM, that sounds like what happens with me. Have no idea why things like that happen...but they do.

Well done, I looked in mine and I have no 'info panel'
did he not suggest upgrading to OE6,

as for how it happened, when the wine gets to the fingers anything can happen :hide:

Ann you know I don't drink :huffin:  (much)

Yes he did recommend one or two upgrades and that was included. He is coming back to do them and also to give the 'puter a thorough physical clean.

I now have a computer that has been fully cleaned, two USB ports that were not working are now working, CD-writer that was not working now working and other problems solved.

Over the two visits the man from Archer Consultants was here for four hours total charge £55.

I love living in Norfolk with its good old Norfolk Boys who do a really good job for a very fair price.
