Email notification

Postby Oddquine » Sat Aug 19, 2006 1:02 pm

OK........as there have been people wanting this, I'm polling to see just how many do...........and just why you want it!

Numbers in poll..........reasons on a post, pretty please.

Way I look at it is dropping in periodically will let you see if anyone has added to a topic you are watching/replied to a topic/sent you a PM.

One of the reasons I don't allow it at the moment is the numbers of people on the old forum who gaily ticked the notify me of everything you can notify me about boxes..........then changed their email addresses, so MY inbox was stapped full of undelivered mail!!!!

My reason is because it's usually there !

Let's say I got used to the facility in another life,so it would be useful if it was re-implemented,thank you in anticipation.

I just don't see the point - if people are regular users of Rowan Tree.

Besides - I get enough emails, without adding to 'em.

All I meant was that to tell someone on here of a post I had submitted,I had to leave her a message on another forum we are both on...she had missed it on here...anyhow looks as though I am out voted, but I will say this - it's the only forum that I subscribe to that doesn't have the facility of reply emails :magnify:

It's none of the above for me. I see the point but I get enough emails already and nothing is so urgent in the forums that I need immediate notification. Any postings can always wait till my next visit which is never going to be far away.

But can't that someone on here use the "View posts since last visit" link at the top of the page?.....that way she can see what threads have new posts?

I'm going to have a lot better reasons than "I am used to it" and "I want to make sure others on here know I have posted" to change five templates and the database.

I never use it no matter which forum I am on. I have enough spam to delete as it is.

I always use it if it's available. I've missed responding to something aimed at me on odd occasions and I don't want to be thought rude. I'm presuming this only applies to threads that one has posted on?
