I've got another cat !!

Postby Young Goat » Wed Aug 31, 2011 9:36 pm

I've got another cat to keep Angel company, because I am only at home about two hours each morning and evening.

She is only about 12 weeks old and I've called her Lizzie. (after Rosemary's second name) she had been named Isabel, but as my Granddaughter is called Isabella so I thought I'd best change it.

Angel is growling and hissing a bit but there hasn't been the totally hostile reaction I thought might happen.

For the time being, until Angel fully accepts her, she is in my spare bedroom with all the things she needs. I'll only let them see each other when I can supervise things very closely.

Angel will soon get over her hissy fit, Keith - my daughter's cat did when she brought a new kitten home.

What about Angel's health problems ? Can Lizzie be inoculatd against them ?

Lizzie has been fully inoculated against everything including FeLV, which Angel has.

Angel is now about 7 and shows no signs of FeLV. The vet and I think that although she tests positive for it she has not developed it yet. ( similar to testing positive for HIV and not having AIDS.)
Most cats that have FeLV die at an early age (about 2 to 5)

Lovely to read Keith and glad to know that Angel is still with us.
I hope in time she will take to Lizzie with the sparkling eyes.

She's gorgeous. The kitten will be fine as long as she realises Angel is the boss!

Good luck........

Don't count on Angel being the boss ! Kelly's kitten, Dolly, is now a big cat and has been known to walk casually past her half sister, delivering a quick thump to Babs ears while pretending nothing is happening ..... and Babs just sits there !!!
