Awake at last!

Postby Liz » Wed Apr 26, 2006 2:05 pm

My tortoise finally decided to wake up.
She has only just come out of hibernation, though I expect with her getting older it takes longer!
She is around 75 years of age.

The Rowan Tree meet Nelly.

Aaaaw! I'm glad she made it through the Winter!

There was a lady on another forum who had one (Tang) I wonder if hers is ok?

I remember when they used to be 2/6d. They are about £95 now, and tiny........

It belongs to my daughter really, but she is now grown up and married.
Our garden is safe so Nelly can't get out anywhere.
So thats why she is still with us.

My daughter used to call her Mortgage, as she said as they get more valuable she could use her for a deposit on a house!!

She has her house, but I still have the tortoise!

That's a great age for her - hope she is around for lots of years yet.

http://www.thetortoisehouse.com/

I know the girl who owns this site, she also has a Yahoo Group.

I had a tortoise when I was young, can't remember what happened to it, if I still had it. it would be 'old' :rolleye11:

I used to have a tortoise called Lulu. She wandered into our garden and we couldn't find the owner. Whoever they were had drilled a hole in her shell and tried tethering her. We had her a good few years but she died in hibernation one year. I can still remember the noise she used to make when eating her favourite squashy tomatoes.
