I'm still not sure who's the boss. :dunno:

Let him off the lead for the first time on Sunday............having shown him a box of dog chocs which I took with me to reward him for coming back when I shouted.

So he ran hell for leather down the road a bit.....then stopped and waited for me.......and tried to get into the choc pocket. By the time we got home, he'd had half a dozen chocs.....and I didn't have to shout him back once!

I can now let him out in the garden without the wall jumping (though I have had to put my waste and recycling bins at the front gate to block it, as he has a penchant for trying to kiss anyone coming past from the doctors'). :groaner:

So now I don't have to freeze keeping an eye on him when he goes out............I just have to clean muddy paw prints off carpets, furniture and beds, fill in the holes he has dug and wash all the stuffed toys he takes out to play with him!

And I have to remember never to go into the kitchen when he is in the garden......as he always comes in for a biscuit....then goes out again till the next time.

I am learning the difference between the whining for wanting to go out and trash the garden...........and that of needing to do his business....and that which means his walk/breakfast/tea is overdue.........and tonight he has started trying, loudly, to persuade me it is bedtime!

You know........because I am considerate of my neighbours, I have to get someone to come and babysit him when I have a bath..because he howls big time if he can't see me...and it is bad enough when I'm in the toilet!

You think he's the boss?

He sure has. Having said that Max has taken to following me about the house. If I go into the bathroom he sits outside till I come out, he would come in with me if I didn't shut the bliddy door!!

He also tells us when it is time for bed - anytime from 9 o'clock onwards!!
