Thanks for your kind thoughts
She doesn't seem ill at all, apart from the fact that she doesn't much like going for walks. Well, she gets all excited about going out but loses interest about 10 yards from the gate. Dave walks her around the park with her trudging behind but when she realises she is on the way home she starts running.
Perhaps she has canine agrophobia. Surprised
Apparently the vet says this is typical behaviour of a dog with her condition, but he cannot explain why.

Things are looking up at last. Dad goes home on Sunday. My brother will be collecting him from the convalescent home and settling him into his own place. Unfortunately I won't see him until Sunday evening as we have been invited out to Sunday lunch with friends, a rare treat.

AND.. we got Beth's blood and urine test results today. They were all clear, so the problem is just her heart. As well as taking the Fortekor tablets, she will have to take Vetmedin tablets twice a day to make her heart pump harder. She will be on these drugs for the rest of her life and we should notice a difference in about a weeks time. Thank goodness for pet insurance.
One problem with these new tablets is that she has to have them an hour before she eats. Now she usually has her breakfast as soon as we get up. So we will either have to get up and hour earlier, give her the tablet and go back to bed, or she will have to wait for her breakfast, she won't like that.

Glad to hear there are no other problems with Beth. I am sure that she will forgive you (eventually) if she has to wait for her breakfast!! ;)

Good to read your news about your dad and Beth June.

Makes a change from the gloomy news we hear everyday.

At least you KNOW now about Beth and that is probably why she does not want to go too far.
She must get very tired just like humans who have the same problems.

I expect you are feeling easier yourself now that you know what is happening.

Cheers Maisie.

Glad to hear Beth's illness will be controlled now. The breakfast problem is going to need a bit of ingenuity though!

I didn't know your Dad had been ill, I must have missed that.

This year has been a bad one for a few folk, at least it will be over soon!

Thanks for your replies. Dad phoned me today, they have decided that he is not ready to go home after all. Monsy on 4th August he fell over the bannister, fractured his spine and cracked some ribs. He has been in hospital and a convalescent home ever since. He is 84 and rather portly. The social services have fitted a high rise loo seat and railings where needed at his house but still consider that he is still too wobbly to live by himself at present.

What a deadful accident, especially for a man of his age. One cracked rib is very painful, it hurts every time you cough or laugh!

He's probably disappointed but better safe than sorry!

I hope he's back home soon June. Even if it's just in time for Christmas would be something!

Pleased to hear the news about Beth, June. Yes, dogs can suffer aggrophobia.

Sorry to hear the other news about your dad, I hope that he is soon well again.

Hope all is well now. It always comes when you are already worried about something, if you know what I mean.

Beth is responding well to her drugs and Dave said that she actually jogged round the park this morning. Could be the effect of the frost on her shaved under carriage.
Dad was rushed back to hospital with a suspected kidney infection last week, he had a raging temperature and was delirious. After xrays and scans they have found that he has gallstones, but at his age they will not operate. He must now go on the low fat diet I have been nagging him to go on for years!
Thanks for asking Dita.

I use that for my gallstones, Daisy - I'm terrified of ops!!

I had my gall bladder removed in 1984 Rowan, it is a very unpleasant op, I'd rather have another Caesarian than the gall bladder one again. I think, with keyhole surgery it's not so bad and in some cases they can blast the stones with a laser. Cooked cheese made mine flare up and as you will know, the pain is excrutiating.
