Fishy tale

Postby dejavou » Sat May 20, 2006 7:33 pm

For the last 6 weeks, I've been looking after my grand-daughters 2 goldfish, whilst work was being done by the council at my daughters house. All went well 'til last Tuesday morning, when my husband rang me at work to say one of the fish was floating on it's side in it's tank, what I was expected to do from 12 miles away, I'm not sure as I could hardly leave work early for a "fishy" emargency!!

Mind you, I then spent a couple of hours on the internet (don't tell my boss) looking at goldfish remedies, it seemed the fish was constipated ( ) and this had affected its swimbladder  and one remedy was to immerse the fish in water with Epsom Salts for 5 minutes.

So when I finished work I picked up some ES and hurried home to check Kenzie (the fish!!) he was still floating but was breating so, I followed the directions picked up from the net, even going so far as to prop the poor fishy upright for the stipulated 5 minutes :please: then popped it back into a clean tank of water.

Within 5 minutes it was swimming like a good 'un and has been fine ever since

The moral of the story is .... next time you're "bunged up" have a bath in Epsom Salts (just for 5 minutes though, or lord knows what the result might be)
