Wholesale slaughter

Postby Emm » Mon Aug 07, 2006 2:10 pm

As I have been unavoidably away!!!! I was not able to put this on at the time.

It was reported on our local TV news programme, that a man up near Newcastle somewhere, has shot over 10,000 ex racing greyhounds - over a period of years.

When the dogs were no longer of any use for racing, the owners took them to this man, and he shot them.
Apparently he charged £10 a dog.

The Police say they cannot do anything about it, as the man has a gun licence.
And the RSPCA said they can't do anything either - as the man has not broken the law.

Sorry - but I am just lost for words.

What a bloody farce all this is Emm. :tantrum2:

Nobody wants to take the responsibility on to stop this cruelty.

Its disgusting and time something was done about it.

Do you know of any petitions to stop this barbarism?

It won't make any difference - he'll just move location.

He's really running a slaughterhouse, only it's for dogs. I blame the racing fraternity, once a dog has lost its abilities, or doesn't live up to expectations, it's of no use to them.

As far as I can see, the only way round it would be to boycott Greyhound racing, and that will never happen!

Unfortunately, I haven't heard of a petition, Maisie.

As you say, Monsy, it will never be boycotted.
After football, greyhound racing was the next biggest spectator sport.

Slowly but surely, the laws are getting changed. There has been a greyhound forum on the go for a few years now. This includes the Dogs Trust.

Dreadful. Why are these things allowed to happen in a country which prides itself on the care of its animals?

Pity the bastards finger doesn't slip and shoot himself .... or maybe it would be better to shoot the vermin that send the dogs to him in the first place!!!!!!
