I had a brother-in-law who, if he burped or someone else burped, immediately said 'More tea, Vicar?'

Morning Dita and anyone else popping in. Hope all are o.k. and doggie not getting too wet. Big hugs today. Such a lot of rain did not expect this much. Son and family on their way to coast, hope the weather clears for them. Have you heard this one, See a penny, pick it up, all the day you'll have good luck,. Visiting son at the lake yesterday, saw a penny, picked it up. Now waiting for the good luck. Idiot me sometimes. Hubby finally got his papers today for skin op. and heart check. I said, thank goodness we can then get back to normal. Take care all, cheers Penny . Forgot, had a beautiful strange bird on the fence for about twenty mins. this a.m. dripping with rain, poor thing. Got all the books out to see if we could find what it was and both of us took pics. Hubby did a nice enlargement and it turns out it was a Young Sparrowhawk. Such a thrill.

Afternoon Penny and all, Vannin, my Grandad used to say More tea vicar, also heard the penny one Penny:) It was a muddy slog out doggie walking today, she was happy to be back homw sending big hugs to you. It is a miserable one today, rain, and very low cloud. Lucky you getting those pics of the young Sparrowhawk, they are gorgeous birds, how anyong can kill them is beyond me. Good to hear your hubby has at last got his op date re-scheduled,it seems ages since the previous let down he had. Hope you are having a good bank holiday, despite the rain. Take Care Penny:) and all.

Hi, all - how glad I am that I wasn't born a dog and so I don't have to be made to go for walks in the rain!! Lucy Katt entirely agrees with me about this
It really is vile here, the rain hasn't stopped since the early hours but it's still very humid, more like Singapore than South Essex. Ugh. It's looking like comfort-food weather so I'm off to make a ginormous curry for tonight and then I'll sit and stuff myself with tea and shortbread until it's cooked.

Here are two I only heard after moving to Bucks in 1961. Not saying they Bucks origin though!

'Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs'. Probably from the North, because is usually said '........go to't foot of our stairs.'
and

'It's raining over Our Will's Mum's'

(which is appropriate over most people's mums today!)

Good morning all. I must have watched the wrong forecast, because I thought it was meant to be a wet Saturday and bright Sunday. But it is pouring here!

I have been keeping a close eye on Trixie and if she was having worse trouble with the itch of Harvest mite, then it would be time for another corticosteroid injection for its anti-inflammatory properties. Well, that would be the third since late July, and already she seems very wary of my intentions. It is such a worry that her trust might be broken, as much as worrying about her physical state.

She now seems to have realised that licking instead of strong scratching, will provide a short-term ease to the itch without breaking the skin, and this weekend, is not being troubled too much. The cyber kisses have helped!

Penny, I hope you are feeling better now.

Morning Dita , Vannin and all, What a day yesterday, so much rain, can't believe it Understood we were supposed to have it hot and sunny by today. Hope doggy not to upset at walking in the rain, big hugs from me, big kisses for puss, do hope this weather helps to get rid of the itch. Hubby now has his second hospital appointment for heart check-up, so he is sorted up-to-date. As usual ,me, at the bottom of the list. Old groaner, that's me. Never mind. First time ever bought a carton of ready prepared salad from Sainsbury, really enjoyed it. Only thing I added was beetroot in own juice which I love. Hubby said he liked it very much so will buy like that on odd occasions in future. Was just about three pounds which worked out cheaper than when I prepare all my own. Also, according to some tests I am going tho' had to find some pure orange juice. Finally tracked some down at our local petrol station which has a M & S food counter. Altho' it is 2.89 per bottle, or two for £4. I t is simply fresh oranges squeezed with nothing else added. I put a little in a glass with ordinary shop juice and boy it is delicious. Too rich to drink on its own so works out quite cheap mixed with others. Thought some of you might like to try it.

Mary had a little lamb, it had a sooty foot. and every where that Mary went its sooty foot he put. He followed her to school one day, there was an awful fuss, the teacher sent him home again, so he had to go by bus.

take care all, cheers Penny

Hi Penny and all, we got a lovely day here now the mist has lifted, doggie enjoyed a walk in the fields today, she sends hugs and says you should have met us while we were there Penny :) We do not have an M&S here now, they shut down a couple of years ago. They have had plans now approved by the council to rebuild a new one, but it has been a long time in pipe line because of objections from every direction over the location. I miss our M&S as well. Hope you are enjoying the bank holiday Penny, take care :) and all who pop in here.
