Hi Penny, Andere welcome back after your trip-good for some -what do you say Penny:) Still turfing cupboards out this end, have a pile in the middle of the floor at present wondering what to do with em!. It was a good walkies today, not too hot for us both, do not mind the hot weather but energy wise a bit taxing. She sends big hugs for you Penny. Take care Penny, Andere and all.

[quote="dita"........ Still turfing cupboards out this end, have a pile in the middle of the floor at present wondering what to do with em!......[/quote]

Oh,I know that feeling! I always end up with a pile for 'keep', a (smallish) pile for 'definitely chuck away' and a HUGE pile for 'charity shop or maybe-I-might-need-it-again?' It then takes days and days to make decisions about this last pile, mostly because I'm a sentimental twerp. I know I don't like a thing but if someone I cared for gave it to me, or the sight of it brings back good memories of what was going on when I bought it, then I hate to part with it and the stuff gradually creeps back into its cupboards to lurk unused for another year or ten.

Another lovely, sunny day here The washing's all dried and almost all the ironing's done. Lucy Katt is sleeping on my bed as she recovers from the stresses of being treated like an empress for most of the past week!

Hope your OH's hospital visit is OK Penny - it's lovely that he can ditch the stiff-upper-lip and say he'd like you to be there, too. Cyber hugs to him.

Hi Andere you sound exactly like me, it is such a problem and there are things which are sentimental to me too, they are the hardest.
Bet Lucy Katt would be happy to see you, whether or not she was spoilt while apart from you.Take Care :)

Good to know puss is o.k. I am a hoarder too. My poor last cat died several years ago and I still have his tray. Dreading the visit on Wednesday. Last time, I was sitting in the car for 4 plus hours. Hubby inside waiting and waiting, was told he may still have another hour to wait so gave up and we came home. No one told us you could get a meal nearby all we were offered was a cup of coffee. This time, have to leave home at 6.30 am. hopefully to catch an early appointment with the surgeon. Fingers crossed. Have arranged a lunch so should be o.k. this time and taking plenty of crossword books. Pleased your washing was dry. Have an easy Sunday tomorrow. cheers Penny

Good morning Penny and all. Funny that when you are waiting for such appointments, time seems to go slow cos you you want to get it over as quick as possible. Pleased I'm not the only hoarder :) Gotta go for walkies yet, doggie just had her daily brush up, and chased next doors cat out of our back yard, we have a small aviary out there and our cockatiel family have diminished to 3 from 8 because of old age, also fear, from the cat climbing up the wire. Sorry Andere. Doggie sending big hugs to you and say's keep your chin up Penny :) and all.

Hi, all and what a lovely September day! My favourite month and not only because I was born in it! I love the cooler nights and sunny days with a little edge to the breeze and the leaves starting to change colour ...

I spent yesterday afternoon in the kitchen, topping and tailing loads of gooseberries and blackcurrants (my absolute favourite fruit) and cooking them, plus some greengages, although a lot of the greengages didn't make it to the cooking stage, we just ate them! What we can't eat i8mmediately I shall have to find space for in the freezer so we've got lovely fruit ready for us in the depths of winter  I can't claim any kind of self-sufficiency; I didn't grow any of it but bought it from supermarkets and greengrocers.

A lovely gossipy day today - went to Chelmsford for a leisurely lunch with a friend and former work colleague. She now lives in Suffolk so we meet at roughly the halfway point between us. We had a great catch-up over a really good Chinese lunch and generally put the world to rights. Now, I don't feel like doing anything - so I'm not!!!!

Brilliant day for you, well done. Nothing like freezing fruit ready for the shortage on the markets. I used to get a lot from a friend but she retired and I don't see her any more. Such a shame. Have a nice rest now. cheers Penny

Wasp Nest

Postby vannin » Tue Sep 03, 2013 10:02 am

Good morning and I hope everyone is well.
Yesterday my neighbour came round in the evening and pointed out there is a wasps nest in my roof. I'd never have noticed because I hardly ever stand looking up at the roof. Tomorrow morning the pest control man will come to deal with it. It means I must change an appointment for dental inspection, but this is far more important. Never seen one before.

Also I have a decorator in all week, which is going very well.

Morning Dita and all, Making my relish yesterday, we were inundated with wasps at the window. Hubby immediately took the spray and did all the vents outside the kitchen and dining room. Forgot about the smell. We were informed last week that a wasps nest in the orchard at the bottom of our garden had a wasps nest which was being destroyed. This must have been some left over but at least we were in time to get rid. Such a shame but they are a pest. Hope every one is well and enjoying the sunshine. Big hugs for doggie and kisses for pussies. Out for lunch today, all on edge. Hubby is due his little skin op at Stoke Manderville tomorrow so I will be missing. Have to leave here at 6.am. Taking plenty of crossword books this time. Take care all. cheers Penny

Good morning Penny, Hi Viv and all. Could do with the decorators here, full tins of paint awaiting for OH to get his finger out. We had a wasps nest in our shed a couple of years ago, was very impressed how beautifully made the are, ours was a complete ball hanging from the roof. Are you coming for walkies with us this morning Penny, she sending lots of hugs because you have busy (hopefully not waiting game tomorrow?). Keep chin up Penny :) Viv and all.
