Hi, everyone -
I hope the waiting is over now, Penny and both OH and you are feeling a lot more relaxed and relieved. Shame you both had to spend such a lovely late summer day hanging round a hospital.
It's really, really hot here after a very overcast start. I did some shopping and got my hair cut this morning but it was much too warm to be pounding the streets for very long and I kept going into shops with air-con even when I knew I didn't want to buy anything there. :sunglasses:
Much too hot to do the ironing, too so I've been catching up on emails and bits and pieces. Sooner or later, all the things I keep putting off will catch up with me but, hey, who cares?
Lucy Katt agrees that it's much too warm to do anything at all when you're wearing a fur coat, except sleep.

Hi Dit, Andere and all, Job done at last. Got to Stoke Manderville at at about 06.50am and all done and out at 11,50. Hubby has 22 stitches behind the ear. No problem and no pain. Went very well. I did about 20 crossword puzzles. As weweretoo early forlunch we came home to sort mail and then went to the Prince of Wales for a very nice lunch. Just as we were about to start, the wretched ear started to bleed and covered his white shirt with the red stuff. The owner was very sweet, brought him a pile of serviettes to mop and we sat there for some time until it stopped. Came home and we both sat exhausted. He is now sitting outside in a cool breeze. Just hope all goes well from now. Big hugs for doggie and big kisses for puss. Too hot to do anything more today. I have an upset tummy so not very pleased with myself. Never mind, at least his worry is out of the way. Do hope all are well and keeping cool. Take care and have a good week. cheers Penny

Hello all. Penny, glad Stoke Mandeville is over with, for you and hubby - what a horrible follow-up he had with the bleed. Sorry to hear you are suffering, get well soon.

Decorating nearly finished, very efficient mother and son.

My poor cat is not so good, as the heat exacerbates the problem, and she is tearing at herself till she draws blood. So it is the vet again at lunchtime. I feel I have only just regained Trixie's trust since the last vet visit, poor mite.

As I type, she is asleep on my Canon copier and they do say 'If anyone can, Canon can!'

Had a nice call from son, would I go to lunch early to celebrate, he has a meeting this p.m. so had to be early. Nice thought. Hope you all have a lovely day, keeping fingers crossed mine continues. Big hugs fordoggie and soft kisses for pussy,so sorry the weather is too hot vannin, tell puss it won't be for long, am arranging it to cool off for the weekend. cheers Penny

:hi: :fam21: CONGRATULATIONS

Morning Penny, Vannin. A lovely day again but, sorry to hear about the puss, so irritating for her. Hope your tum better Penny, my little dog sends plenty hugs your way, she is finding the hot weather a bit hard going. Pleased hubby not too uncomfortable after his operation. Had a hoover & dust, nothing planned as yet but no doubt that will be short lived, something will turn up. Take care and keep your chin up Penny :) Vannin and all x.

First up, a bit late but Happy Anniversary, Penny and Penny's OH. Fifty-four years is pretty b****y impressive so well done, both of you and may you have plenty more.

I'm so glad he's had his op and you've got him home in one, slightly gory, piece and I trust your intestinal troubles are settling down now. How clever of you to arrange cooler weather. Can we have some now, please? It's pretty appalling here, heat plus ridiculous humidity equals me flaked out. Just coming up to 10pm and there's no sign of it cooling down at all so another sleepless night in view. Poor Lucy Katt doesn't know where to go to keep cool. She sends friendly purzles to Trixie and hopes it'll all Get Better Soon and says to remember the purrsons are only trying to help ....

Looks like you and your dog will need the wellies for walking tomorrow, Dita - enjoy!!

Not sure what is happening at our house today, think gardening may be a no no. Hope all well at your house Penny, are you making bread I wonder? Take care and keep your chin up Penny :) and allx.

Tried to get in earlier but having problems with this machine. Have arranged for much cooler weather for puss Andere so fingers crossed. Big hugs for doggie, don't shake water all over me. Have made two loaves this morning Dita, one was for my son but he cannot make it today. One for the nurse with some plum and grape chutney. Have final check with ear this p.m. I know it will never be perfect now but at least with an aid I can hear what people say. (good part is I can turn off when hubby is nagging) ha ha. Such a pile of ironing to do, thank goodness for my machine. Prepared a salmon salad for lunch so that is all sorted. I am having prawns, never keen on fish. Have a lovely day all and I am sure you will all feel cooler. Take care. cheers Penny

Sometimes, I worry about the state of my own mind. When I read that sentence, I had a mental vision of a woman in an old-fashioned starched uniform, chomping on a huge bread doorstep, all covered in great dollops of chutney that's dripping down her chin and all over the crisp, white apron!

Very wet here this morning but it's cooled down sufficiently for me to do the ironing at last (is there a smilie for smug beggar?). Lucy Katt went out once this morning and came running home to the back 5 minutes later yowling to be dried, NOW PLEASE, before demanding to be let out the front in case it's nicer outside that door. I wouldn't oblige so she's gone to bed to sulk.

Hope your wellies don't leak, Dita - it looks like you'll be needing them again next week. :(

Sorry if I overdid the weather bit, still better than too much heat. Tell puss to put up with it or will allow it to become too hot again. Nice and cool here. a bit dull, but very pleasant after all that heat. Regarding the relish, Have to watch my English in future. Bread just about finished, hopefully, that's me done for today. Appointment at 4.10 pm. Take care all, cheers Penny.

Just to finish off, the nurse said all O.K now I can wear my earpiece. Have to go at the end of the month to see about changing it for an update one. Keeping fingers crossed now that nothing else goes wrong. cheers Penny

Andere, Trixie always miows to be dried off too!

There have been non-developments, namely that there have been three vet appointments made, the first and second had to be cancelled because she escaped. The third is in 40 minutes time, and she is right where I need her to be at the moment, catflap is locked. I feel cruel when I do it, and we have not had escapes before, but she is aware that while she is sore , itchy, hot and distressed, vet things can happen.

The first time, which was after her sleep on the printer (not copier!) that I posted about, she just turned from her food and was gone in a flash. The second time, it was mid-morning and she had not shown herself since 8 p.m. the previous evening. She strolled in at the very time she should have been in the consulting room. By then I had cancelled both vet and taxi. Fortunately he is a man with whom I have this cat arrangement and he understands how things are.

Everything crossed for this time.

Success :sunglasses: She is in the carrier and actually settled down on the nice plush rug in there. Now for the taxi, which takes only a few minutes.
