Good afternoon Penny and all. Seem to have been at it all morning and part of the afternoon, besides a doggie walk, the fact is cannot tell what an earth I have done. Big hugs from doggie to you Penny. Have at least dived in the freezer and found a Cumberland Pie I made a little while ago, which we will be eating later. Had intended doing as you said, to make some cookies, didn't. Anyway Hope you alright Penny, and keeping your chin up :) Take care All.

Hi Dita and all, came in late today, thought as I was always early I can be a bit of a pain hence the late reply.. Son and grand children popped in last night, they had been to London to the Saracens rugby match. and took most of the cookies and a loaf back home. Good job I made a pile of cookies, most of them were eaten here. Hubby in his usual position. Lovely and sunny, hope doggie enjoyed walkies today, much nicer weather. Thanks for hugs, much needed. Had I known I would have sent hubby over one of his favourites is Cumberland Pie.
Nothing interests me much in the way of food, I did tell the doc about my loss of taste buds but she said there nothing can be done about it Most of the stuff I eat tastes like cardboard, only things I can get near to tasting is something very sweet or tarty. Oh well, lucky to be able to eat I guess. Have a good evening and make some cookies tomorrow. Take care. cheers Penny

Slightly late on parade today! I was full of plans for staying at home and catching up on odds and ends of chores but it turned into such a lovely day, we had a late-ish brunch and decided to drive over to Pitsea, to Wat Tyler Country park for a mooch around and to sit about in the sunshine watching the boats on the creek for a while. It was one of those 'nothing happening, very slowly' sort of days, very therapeutic. Dita's doggie would have enjoyed it, too. OH is astonished that I was enjoying the autumn sunshine so much that I completely overlooked the crafts exhibition in one of the cottages on site and thus came away without spending any money! Now we're home and fed and have apologised to Lucy Katt for leaving her in sole charge of the house for so long and I think I'll go to bed early to nurse my cold symptoms ... sniff .... sniff
Hugs to cats, dogs and forum members :sunglasses:

Returned yesterday after 24 hours in London 'sitting' my grandson, who was a joy to be with. Conversationally gifted!

24 to 30 hours is the longest I would leave Trixie without a minder. The kind of neighbors who used to kindly offer to feed a cat, have sadly long gone. Usually it was a reciprocal basis with a cat-owning neighbour.
For these overnighters, I use the three Catmate auto-feeders, as well as leaving a couple of bowls out and lots of water. I often wonder if she sits by a Catmate waiting for the lid to pop up and bop her on the nose! Anyway, she guzzled up everything I left.

Since getting her, I only had one mini-break type of holiday (Holland last year) and found a wonderful professional catsitter. She was very reasonable, and she and Trixie bonded beautifully. Also she (Elaine) pulled the curtains back and forth morning and evening, and resest the alarm each time and checked the indoor security light was working, of course .

Get well soon Andere, I had that cold a fortnight ago. Wishing everyone a good day and week.

Hi Dita, Andere and vannin, pleased all is going well so far, take care of these colds folks. Big hugs for doggy and big kisses for pussies. Not a bad day here so far. Had a bad night myself, yesterday morning, tripped over carpet in hall and was about to hit head on at the wall. Managed to twist and land on bottom. Must have bruised myself, very sore sitting down. Idiot, teach me to be more careful. Hope you all take care, not the time of year to be poorly. Flu jab this weekend. Dita, just reading in the paper today, Panasonic breadmaker, 10/10 by a chef. I have used this make for about 12 or more years now. Just had anew one this year souse one old and one new Excellent. cheers Penny

Good morning Penny, Andere and Vannin, great to see you all posting.Like the sound of that country park, sure doggie would have enjoyed it, sure Lucy Katt would forgive you after a bit of fuss. Take care of that cold. Hope you have now rested after your visit Vannin, interesting to read about the cat sitter. Penny, what are you like?? thank goodness you did miss bumping your head, it gives you a shock to the system never the less when we trip. Doggie sends many many hugs today, had a lovely walk in the warm sunshine, found ourselves kicking up many Autumn leaves as we walked. Keep your chin up Penny :) and take care, all.

Hello Penny and all. Had to go out earlier, have yet to go doggie walkies, lots of hugs for you as usual. Hope you had an enjoyable lunch today. Know how your son feels, for the last few days I have been in pain too, fear I shall need an extraction it is one loose tooth sitting amidst a part denture, it will mean a trip or two to the dentist to replace the denture now, keep putting it off. Thankfully it not a wisdom. Take care of yourself Penny, be careful sitting down :) Hope everyone ok too.

Hi, everyone - what a really lovely autumn day it's been. The trees are beginning to look absolutely gorgeous, let's hope they stay that way for a little while and don't get stripped naked by any autumn gales just yet. Thanks for all the sympathy - the cold is just sort of ticking over, not really getting better or worse, just a blasted nuisance. I'm getting plenty of fuss and attention from Lucy Katt to soothe me, anyway. No, Penny - she didn't consider it a good day to play outside; she's spent virtually all day on my bed except for the time she was on my lap while I had my coffee this morning.
Vannin, we used to have a cat who really did sit staring at her timer dishes waiting for one to open. We always left an extra meal when we went away overnight, just in case we got delayed on the way home. Every time we got back, we found Annie sitting n the kitchen staring at the dish, willing it to open! My friend Jackie got a timer dish for her cat and the cat wouldn't wait! Before Jackie and her OH even left the house, they heard a terrible banging and thumping from the kitchen and found Moggsie bashing the dish all over the floor and up against the units, growling at it in frustration as she tried to work out how to get in to the contents!

I love the story of the cats Andere. I always look back and smile at memories of my Burmese cat. She and I used to play hide and seek. She really was fantastic. Do hope you are on the mend. Take care of yourself. cheers Penny

Morning Dita and all, hope everyone is well. Lovely and sunny here so far but a few dark clouds forming overhead. Time to get walkies over. Big hugs and kisses all round today. Just put a couple of loaves in, get that out of the way. Having an all day breakfast today, not my idea but am o.k., with it. Went to club for lunch yesterday and had bad news re a friend, he and his wife went for a 4 day holiday with the club a couple of weeks ago and had a wonderful time. Came home, and he had a stoke. Funeral next week . So sad, he was a lovely chap. They only had one daughter who was childless and then in her forties had a lovely little girl. I used to delight the club friend by always calling her grandma, a title she never thought she would have. Lets hope for good news from now on. Have a super day all and take care. cheers Penny

Thanks Dita, so sorry about your tooth. As I said, son waiting to have his extracted to. Such a shame. Forgot to mention, Farm Food have some very good offers this week. After the club we passed near so I popped in. Things such as a bag of mushroom pieces which are a pound, buy one get one free. This offer was on lots of items without the original price being hooped up as in lots of shops. I am not keen on frozen stuff but have stocked up for winter. One never knows. Hugs for you today to help with the pain. cheers Penny
