Good morning Penny and all, was going to mention your hubbys visit to Stoke M yesterday but thought I had got mixed up with the date which is not unusual, pleased he's got it over with, and successfully this time. So you have a dreading dentist appointment on Tues, and GP on Wed, it seems to be going round and round us at the moment. :( It was quite nice for doggie walk but very muddy underfoot, since returning it has become very dull, guess it will rain very shortly. Doggie sends big hugs to you Penny she hoping you had enjoyable lunch, did you save her a bite? Nothing exciting on the cards for the rest of the day, although hubby vanished upstairs for an hour so peace could be good. Keep your chin up :) and take care Penny and all.

Morning all, what a dark, wet and dreary day it is. I am cold too al tho' the heating is on. Just prepared lunch, have made some Sticky toffee pudding for deserts. Delicious. Put a loaf in for tea and that will be my lot today. After a restless night before the hospital visit then off at 7 a.m. the other day. Did not want to get out of bed. Am shattered today. Big hugs for doggie, hope your walkies is not too bad. Kisses for any puss venturing out. Take care all and have a good weekend. Don't forget, Come Dancing this evening. See Brucie is not in it today. cheers Penny

Hello Penny and all. Just starting to rain, doggie was out walkies this morning and the sun was out, big sloppy hugs for you Penny :) Decisions, decisions, is it going to be Tennis or Rugby today? guess I'll soon find out, remote in his hand twiddling as I write. You must be tired after the hospital journey, surprising how much it takes out of your energy levels. Yep! I shall be dancing tonight with Strictly, will see you there, who do you fancy to win? I have'nt made my mind up yet. Keep your chin up Penny :) and have relaxed weekend, and all.

Hello Penny and all. Didn't say yesterday but was feeling ill,it came on suddenly and hit like a ton of bricks, think these chesty cold bugs doing the rounds. Not feeling much different today so Hubby went for doggie walk in bright sunshine, she dived back to send big hugs to you Penny :) Think Natalie fainting like that is sad, hope she back next week, she is superb, fancy her partner too, what a smile :) Been watching the tennis, Nadal has some strange habits, it makes me very curious. Keep your chin up Penny :) and take care, that goes for all popping in X.

Did Wonder Dita, a bit off myself today. Needed doggie hugs and same returned in time for walkies tomorrow. Hope you will be feeling much better tomorrow. I hate these off days. Had sad news this morning, a very old friend from the club died early today. I know it is a relief for her, she has wanted to pop off for some time, still comes as a shock to those left. Specially today, I am always a bit weepy remembering the past having lost my brother. Must go, will be pleased to go fast asleep. Take care, catch you tomorrow. cheers Penny

Hi Dita and all, hope you are much better Dita. I didn't have a goodnight. Dreadful weather, cold, dark and wet. On top of that, Dentist tomorrow, Doc Wednesday. Not going to be my favourite week. Hope doggie is not too put out by the weather, give her extra hugs from me. My birds were nearly in the kitchen today, obviously, this weather doesn't suit them all. Some look bedraggled and wet, tis a shame. Still, that's England for you. Take care and look after yourself. Not many of us left. cheers Penny. Re-reading this, sorry if I sound like an old misery guts. No one else to talk to. P.

Morning Dita and all, hope you are feeling better Dita. The gobbledygook seems to have disappeared this morning, fingers crossed. Just off to the dentist. Terrified as usual. Hope to catch you all later. Take care. cheers Penny

Should have kept quiet, gobbledygook came back when I entered post. Let's hope this goes away soon.

Hello, everyone. It's good to be back! Apologies for the long silence but I had to change my email address and was de-activated. As Oddquine has been having problems with internet access, it took a little while to get re-activated but here I am once more.
I hope everyone's feeling better now and the unwellness bugs have gone away. We've been having dramas here the past few days. OH has cellulitis in his leg - nasty, I know because I had it a few years ago - and has had several rounds of antibiotics which seem to clear it but then it returns. Tuesday, it got dramatically worse and was almost visibly advancing towards his groin. His GP practice was fully booked and said they couldn't see him that day; I was getting worried about it being a deep vein thrombosis (my sister died of a DVT so I'm a bit twitchy on the subject). The 111 people told him to go to a walk-in centre so I hauled him down there and they were very nice but sent us to A&E at Romford. The people at A&E said he wasn't ill enough for them so go to Urgent Care round the corner. There we waited over 4 hours to get seen - this is Urgent care?? - and eventually, at 11pm, they decided to admit him for further investigation.
So, yesterday, I took his washbag, clean pants, dressing gown etc, etc to the hospital and was told he'd probably be there for a couple more days for intensive antibiotics but that he most likely didn't have a DVT. He seemed much better and more cheerful and the fever was much reduced and I stayed with him until late afternoon. About 8:30 yesterday evening, I got a call from him to say he was on his way home in a hospital transport!! They established that he definitely doesn't have a DVT (thank goodness) and so decided to discharge him with a supply of antibiotics which a district nurse has to visit daily to pour into him intravenously and he has to report back to the hospital next week. Apart from only being able to hobble rather than walk, he does seem much brighter and the district nurse was very nice. I've never had a visit from a district nurse before so I hoovered, specially!
If these antibiotics work, I suspect the main problem will be keeping him off the ale while he's on them. Alcohol isn't totally forbidden but they advise not to drink and, the moment he can walk comfortably, he'll want to be off to the Oak to swap wounded hero stories with his equally unfit codger friends ... I suggested they go to Costas instead but you can imagine the response that got. :groaner:
I know I moan about him being a pain in the butt but he's my pain in the butt and I do worry about him; it's not nice seeing my big, reassuring OH looking scared on a hospital trolley.
Lucy Katt seems a bit unsure about getting too close to him; I think he still smells of hospitals and it reminds her of the vet! However, I'm sure she'd want me to send purrs to everyone else

I am so sorry Andere, what a week for you. Seems to be the time for bad news. Dita has not been well, chest troubles, My old friend at the Conservative club died on Sunday. Saw my dentist Tuesday, fortunately all o.k. See my doc next Tuesday. All go and worry. My old hairdresser called for a chat yesterday and she has a chest infection, hope to goodness it's not catching. Tell puss to be nice and comforting to all. Big kisses from me. Hope you OH improves soon, tell him to leave off the booze for a couple of weeks if he wants to enjoy a toast at Christmas. Take care and keep warm. cheers Penny
