Hi, all - a grey day here with a really heavy shower at lunchtime but at least that howling wind has dropped now. Lying in bed last night listening to it felt like being in the middle of a horror movie! The cellar's flooded but that's no surprise and we have a pump in permanent position so we can bale it out in the morning. I've been listening to the radio while preparing tonight's dinner and it seems we got off very lightly; I'm just so glad we're not trying to fly out of Gatwick or catch a train to anywhere ...

Have a lovely time all and I hope the digestive bugs settle down so everyone can do justice to the food on offer. I'm looking forward to a couple of days quiet to get on with some work on the PC without interruption. There's SO much I've promised myself I'll do "during the Xmas holidays while it's quiet" . Lucy K is hibernating but would want me to send seasonal greetings to Doggie and purrs to everyone else. Have a great time!

Hi Penny and all, so pleased all ok, good to hear you enjoyed Christmas with your son and family, sounds like birdies did well out of it too. Doggie was nearly blown away during walkies, she sends big hugs to you today. Nothing planned today, in fact I should be having a clean up but not very enthusiastic, maybe leave it till tomorrow-maybe. Keep smiling Penny :) and take care all.

Hi Dita and all, seems everyone is having a rest. Son bought me one of the things called a Hudl., like Kindle etc. Spent some time trying to reach me how to use the wretched thing. It appears to have copied all my stuff from the computer and put it on Hudl. Still doesn't make sense to me. Hubby of course has one too, he played all day yesterday with it and is now still sitting trying to do more. He spent about 10 mins a short while ago trying to show me what to do to get crossword puzzles on, have given up. I am useless with anything technical. Nice and sunny here but very cold and windy. Still have wretched problem with water works. Must try to get to the chemist tomorrow. Sorry doggie got blown about, might be the same today so extra big hugs to keep safe and warm. Had one late Christmas card today, said to hubby, I am amazed I still get one from both the girls who were my dogs boddies at the office. That must be 50 plus ago. Hubby says I must have treated them well, funny how time flies isn't it. Do hope you get a good rest and take care Dita. cheers Penny

Good to know they still remember you at work so long ago Penny :) I have a Kindle Fire, don't do much on it only books, solitaire, and I do have crossword on it, afraid I am useless on technical stuff too. My waterworks still a bit iffy but improving a bit mi thinks. Little doggie sending hugs to you. Chin up :) xx

Hello, it was a hectic but wonderful few days here, thanks to little Charlie. They stayed a shorter time than previous years and went back yesterday, as my daughter had an evening shift at Associated Newspapers (Sportsdesk)

Charlie, it was obvious to all, had a wonderful time. He was absolutely bursting with anticipation from their arrival on 23rd, and varied between frustration at not getting his hands on presents early, to being pacified by pulling an early cracker. Fortunately Santa brought everything he 'had always wanted', which he said about everything he opened!! It is all for the little ones, isn't it?

Boxing Day, we were at the home of my s-I-l's eldest sister in Watford.(he has four but two have now moved to Devon) They always kindly include me in the invite. Charlie had a whole repeat of The Day of Presents!

Trixie's nose is only slightly out of joint these days, being well used to Charlie. But even so, yesterday she did something which happened only twice before, in the first year I had her in 2010. I went to the bus stop close to my house for a quick run into town. She followed me but using the woods which are along the roadside. Standing there, I heard 'Miow' quite insistently. Saw her just behind me but separated by a fence from the pavement/road. I made the Viv-type gestures that show her we are going home and raced her back and up the drive, let her in through the door and called out (family still here) and rushed back still in time for the bus!

I hope you two who are suffering will soon feel better and wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Viv

Hit Dita, vannin and all. Well, no sooner here and its gone. Sounds like puss has her nose put out of joint vannin. Give her a big kiss from me and say it is only once a year. I expect most are now planning a New Year bash. Sounds like you had a lovely Christmas vannin, so pleased. We too had a lovely time. Son has now gone off to Dorset for a 5-day break. He deserves it, he certainly worked hard over Christmas, did all the preparation and cooking. Hope doggie enjoyed her walkies Dita, big hugs from me. don't think she will need them to keep warm, it's lovely and sunny here hope you have the same. Feel a bit shattered now, cooked lunch so am having a rest. Got quite cross with myself last night. Learning how to use the tablet (silly name) I managed to finish a whole crossword, looked for how to check and lost it all. grrrrr. At least I know how to get a crossword going. Hubby of course delighted with his, he can now sit all day on computer then all evening with his tablet. Never mind eh. Summer will soon be here ????? we hope. Do hope all are well and have good weather today. Anyone doing anything for New Year? Take care for now and have a good day. . Almost forgot to send big kisses to pussies cheers Penny

Good morning Penny and all. Sounds like you had an hectic enjoyable Christmas Vannin, poor little puss, dont blame her for making an attempt to escape :) Now the Penny sounds as if you have come to grips with your new gadget, much cleverer than me for sure, you'll see even less of hubby now. Quite nice and sunny today, there is still lots of mud around where we walk but it slowly drying up. Big hugs are on their way to you, she keeps sniffing in the air Penny, is it possible you are cooking :) . Keep smiling Penny, Vannin and all.

Would you believe it, wrote along screed and pressed the wrong button again. dam grrr. Start again.
Morning Dita and all, lovely and sunny here today but still cold. Awoke to a heavy white frost which has only just cleared. Pleased doggie is o.k. wonder if she can smell the bone I posted. had to smile, me, cooking, ha ha. You were right in a way, Dita, OH lost in his new tablet, so only the occasional hmm now and then. Me, I managed to get and do a crossword but could not change it for another or check if it was all correct. Lost it and gave up. Not being in theleaset technical, I don't get it/. Son and grandson spent quite a lot of Christmas day afternoon showing me what to do but on my own, all vanished. OH still sitting with his now, he was on the computer all morning, then lunch, then snooze now tablet. Exciting bloke. Better than nothing tho', Just heard from son, stuck on the ferry in Dorset, at least he got away. So pleased, he is such a goer takes some time to get him to rest. Hope all pussies are well and enjoying the sunshine. Kisses from me. Wonder if we will get the storms promised. Now, take care all and enjoy what nice weather we have at the moment. See if I press the right button this time. Idiot me. cheers Penny

Hi everyone - hope everyone's OK and keeping warm. I've been skulking around nursing my rotten cold virus for days on end and just haven't felt like posting or anything else much. I certainly haven't done all the useful things I was intending to do over the holidays. Grrrr. The best-laid plans and all that ....

OH and I both felt so miserable we've hardly been anywhere; managed a brief stroll in the park on Thursday but he still has pain if he walks very far so it was only a short one. This morning, we both felt much better and the weather was bright and glorious, although cold, so we did something we've intended to do for ages and went for a trip on the Emirates Airline, the cable-car across the Thames. The air was lovely and clear so you could see for miles; it was a great experience. Despite what you hear about nobody ever using it, we had to Q for 30 mins to get on it after we bought our tickets but I think many of the people were like us and brought out by the sunshine. I recommend it to anyone visiting the docklands or Greenwich area with an hour to kill - especially if the weather's fine! I'll look at the pics I took later and, if they're any good, I'll post one or two on here.

Lucy Katt's still in hibernation mode and only venturing out for short walks but I'm sure she'd want to send purrs and greetings to all. Had to laugh about Trixie, Viv - reading your post, I really thought you were going to find her jumping on the bus with you. Well done on persuading her to go home AND not missing the bus!

More hugs to say thanks for the bone Penny :)
