Hi Penny and all. Be cool, be cool - that is what a friend of mine says to me, it does work 'sometimes'. It was pouring down until an hour ago, quick walkies with doggie, it seemed to be drying up sun peeping through. Alas, those hugs needed because sky darkened and we had to nearly run back. Best cups broke and he then expected trouser bottoms mending Penny, changed mi mind--forget the 'be cool' bit :) you'll feel much better. Hope you get your weekly shop after all. Keep your pecker up Penny :) I had trouble getting on line today and I'm feeling tetchy now cos of other bits and pieces, Grr! Hope Andere and L Katt soon come up with the solution she promised. :please: Take care everyone

We have got a thunderstorm now, strange weather ain't it :hide:

Hi Dita, and all. Not my day. After finding we were to meet son at 1.p.m. hev said we have plenty of time. Next minute, come on, I will go to the chemist and bank, then on to the garden centre to get oranges for next years marmalade. Kept my cool, did not get out at bank as it was still raining. Got to the garden centre and sent to chose the fruit. He was picking and messing about say, how about this one etc. In the end, I took an orange out of his hand and said, clear off and stop interfering. He went off and a man standing next to me said, quite right. Had to chuckle. Off to Sainsbury, he found parking lot but was a difficult one, I moved up a little and found a good one, stood there waving him in and a woman drove straight into this spot. I just curled up and went off leaving him to it. Found a trolley and waited at the entrance only to find he had left the shopping bags behind. As if that wasn't enough, for lunch I ordered
chicken ticka masala (??) he had cheese omelette with salad. When it came, he decided he would rather have mine so I let him swop. He is now, in his usual reclining position in the lounge so I am enjoying the peace and quiet in my computer room. (Keep having a giggle at the events of today, think I will write a book.) I can see now why Iwas born to be placid. One of these days. grrrr Sorry about the weather for doggie Dita, all hugs appreciated. cheers Penny

[quote="Penny"......... then said, will you just sew the bottom of my trousers, just coming undone. Made him take them off to find the complete hem undone so, been sewing until now. ......[/quote]

Don't you just hate it when they do that? Mine will walk around treading on his hem for days and then wonder why I scowl and curse when I'm expected to magically mend it in 5 minutes because he wants to wear them NOW! Sympathy and :grouphug: to you, Penny. I bet the broken cups are a design that's not made any more, either 'cos those are always the ones to get smashed.... Sigh ....

It's been fairly foul and wet a lot of the time here but not especially cold so it's bearable. I met a friend for lunch and a gossip; we haven't been able to get together for a good natter for ages so my throat's quite sore now! She's also wondering if there's a way to solve the OH problem without actually resorting to murder. Her OH writes murder stories so he'd probably spot any Machiavellian schemes she thought up before she got chance to carry them out. My OH is hacked off because he was supposed to be going to Grays to meet someone this p.m. (business, not booze, for once) but the other chap cancelled at the last minute, resulting in a lot of muttering and mumbling so I've escaped upstairs and left him to it.

Lucy K is quite lively today, running in and out between rain showers. She's sending purrs and cat-kisses to all stressed out purrsons and hoping it helps.

We always used the hemming strip that you iron on - takes a jiffy. About the only time I used the iron!

Morning Dita and all, big hugs for doggie earlier today, hopefully a nice walkies is on the cards. Weather not too bad here at the moment, dry but rain promised later. Nothing planned at the moment, doing an all day breakfast for lunch. OH likes this as long as I do a large piece of gammon for him, along with sticky toffee pudding and cream. Hope pussy enjoy her run about yesterday, kisses on the way to enjoy today. Yes vannin, have used velcro on the odd occasion. Comes in useful if one is very busy. Hope everyone has a good day today, please take care and keep warm. cheers Penny.

Ummmk!! Wot? Together on the same plate?? :hide:

I use that iron-on hemming stuff sometimes but have found it only works on fabrics where you can have the iron really hot but not on wool or viscose mixes. If the iron's not hot enough, we've found it comes unstuck in the wash. There was also some powder substance I tried once. You sprinkled it on like talc then pressed the two faces of fabric together with the hot iron. I must have used too much because lots of it dissolved and oozed out from under the edge of the hem and stuck to the bottom of the iron which I never completely got clean and ended up replacing. :huffin:

Dry but very grey and cold here; Lucy K has sampled Out but is now recuperating from the exercise on the bed. Purrs to all .....

Just checked the picture from Monsy, beautiful little creatures. Do have a look all.
Regarding velcro. O.K. for emergency or light fabric. I used to teach ladies dressmaking and very rarely would suggest Velcro. A needle and thread is much better and much stronger. Andere, I can imagine the fuss if I put the desert on the same plate, must try it for fun. Take care all and thanks again Monsy. cheers Penny.
