Hi Dita and all, Done it again, wrote a long screed 5 mins. ago and lost it. . Hope all are well, big hugs for doggie and hopes that she has a nice walkies today. Big kisses for puss, don't think it will be an outside day today, too cold. Lovely and sunny but a day for wrapping up and sitting by the fire. Had a rough night with aches and pains, have decided it must be the weather so will have to put up with it. Did you watch The Midwives. I thought it was super, could not see why the main one left after the accident. Our sound went down and could not catch all the conversation. Just having savoury mince today, always put lots in the freezer so I can have an easy day now and then. Take care all and do wrap up warm. cheers Penny

Hi, everyone - cold here today, too but very little sunshine to make up for it. Mostly just grey, grey and more grey with a couple of really heavy showers to add to the general joy and delight. :( As you say - definitely not an outside day for moggies! Not much to report from here; it's been a very quiet day and I'm in need of comfort food so I'm going to make a big pan of bubble and squeak to have with some sausages. I've never watched the Midwives; we hardly ever turn the TV on. I did intend to record a crime serial that started Saturday but forgot to program the recorder so that's that! I might, if I remember, turn it on for some of the olympic stuff because I quite enjoy watching the luge and the skeleton and wishing I was brave enough to do it. Big warm hugs to all cats, dogs and people reading this.

Morning Dita and all, what a dreadful day. All I can send is loads of hugs and kisses. Nothing else will be of use today. Sorry doggy, nothing I can do about this weather. We decided to go out for lunch but I am in two minds. OH put out the rubbish today, came straight in and sat in his usual. He was frozen. Will wait and see what the mid-day has in store. When I see the pictures of people with water above their knees in their kitchen, I feel so dreadful. Nothing I can do to help. Pleased at the suggestion in the papers that we use a lot of the cash here instead of giving it to foreign countries. I know it sounds hard but if we can't look after our own how can we continue to help others. Sorry about all the phone calls Dita, as we have always been ex-directory we haven't. had that bother until of late. Still only a very few. OH says is there a system available where you can have all international calls stopped except particular ones you chose. Very difficult these days I know. Do take care and try to enjoy today. cheers Penny

Hi Penny and all, no walkies, just a few dives in and out for urgent little visits. Keep having snow mingling with the heavy rain, doggie must have been getting a few tips from L Katt cos she none too active, apart from sending you hugs Penny. We are ex directory too, always have been and also use phone preference service but it still does not barr lots of these calls. You can get a phone which block these calls but it also blocks all international ones, so if you have connections abroad the calls are also blocked. So sad to see all those places struggling to keep the water out of their homes, there is no signs of an end either. Keep your chin up Penny :) and take care all.

Hi Dita and all, another freezing cold day. I think doggie might be lucky with a little walkies today along with lots of hugs to keep warm. Kisses for puss too, I know where she will be. Right about no help for us vannin. Typical. Lay thinking in bed last night, not only are we all sufferering but what about all the little creatures, rabbits, hedgehogs etc. No help for them what so ever. Gets worse. Do take care all and keep warm. cheers Penny

Well, what I keep thinking is.........you hear about some teams of rescuers going out to round up pet dogs and taking them to a pound or temporary kennelling. Start to wonder if/when they may be reunited with their owners. Cats are not easily rounded-up. There may be so many beloved pet cats who escaped to goodness knows where. Or a worse fate may have befallen them. As for farm animals, I'm sure many are missing presumed drowned.

So very sad.

That poor old gentleman of 88 on the news. He was being helped into a dinghy, his wife died a few days ago and he has a funeral to arrange with his daughter, who was seeing him off from his home. Poor people.

Hi Penny, Viv and all, I feel so sorry for all the people AND all pets & wildlife who are affected by this devastating situation. Nature is the ruler in the end and always wins. It was a quick wander up to the post box and back for doggie walkies, wind is howling, rain is pouring, like L Katt she is now enjoying those hugs Penny. Those poor men are up working over the road on the scaffolding despite this weather, they are lining the walls with these big sheets for the outside wall insulation, ours starts next week, they are going to pebble dash ours too. Keep your chin up Penny :) and keep cosy all.

Just a moment after posting the last one, the news showed a Shepperton kennels for dogs and cats where the owner has thrown open the doors for pets to be cared for FREE till their owners are able to collect them. The poor dogs we saw close up, look utterly bewildered.

Also heard there are ads in the papers where ordinary householders on 'dry land' are offering to look after pets. The trouble with cats is, they so easily run off, especially if panicked.

I'm off to London later tomorrow to see my grandson in another cub choir recital singing a Disney medley. He is only 5!

Hi, all - I hope nobody's actually blown away in this gale! I'm just very thankful that I don't live in West Wales at present; it's quite bad enough for me. It's so noisy!! Rain rattling on windows, wind whipping and howling around everything, bin lids clattering about, plastic sheeting rattling and faffing around .... and so cold, just can't get warm .... Lucy K went out for 10 mins this morning and, since then, her most significant exercise has been moving from bed to armchair!

A little while ago, I spotted this strange lump in a previously neatly-made bed ...
Image ...

so I investigated ...

and was not popular for letting in the daylight! :sorry:

Re the farm animals, I understand the 'Farming Today' programme makers are trying to co-ordinate help for farmers where those with spare accommodation are offering to take care of livestock, if they can be safely transported and others are offering donations of food, sileage, bedding straw, etc. I don't listen to the programme - never get up that early! - but I heard reference to the scheme on another programme.

Believe it or not, the sun has just come out although it's still blowing a hooley. Cheer up, all - they say it'll be nice tomorrow. Here's hoping ...

Morning Dita and all, a bit late, had trouble internet today. Took me 11 mins to get in. Hope everyone is well and keeping warm. Lovely and sunny here, a slight wind and very cold. Keeping fingers crossed for a nice walkies today doggie with lots of hugs of course to keep warm. Hope puss manages a quick turn around today, must say she knows where to kip. Kisses to help keep warm. Thinking about the cladding Dita, your property will look very smart being pebble dashed and the extra coating will help keep the heat in. Good for you. Off for weekly shop and meeting up with son for lunch. Take care all and do keep warm. cheers Penny

Morning Dita and all, (No I have not seen it yet, adore him so can't wait) Dreadfully cold and dark, rain due any minute and wind getting up again. Do hope you don't have any more building problems Dita. Big hugs for doggie, not sure if she will be lucky today. Can't see puss venturing out either, hope hugs and kisses help make the day bearable. Had lovely lunch with son yesterday, Children break up today just for a week, I always used to have them here for odd school breaks but now they are teenagers, too old for grandma to have to look after. Time flies. I hope we don't get the rain promised for the next few days. I can see our country going afloat before much longer. Take care all and have a good day but do keep warm. cheers Penny
