Hi everypne
Dita, how awful to have the ridge tile come off and the other loosened tiles following it. That is what I dread happening. Thank goodness you finally found a local man to come and fix it.

Trixie more than fed up with the weather, sleeps all day.

Hi Penny, Viv, Hopefully all will stay safe on the roof today, the wind is getting more powerful than earlier and now it is raining again, so many folk must be feeling so anxious in our country because it is a frightening situation the UK finds itself in. Not good out for pussie cats they will be curled up in the warmth, doggie walk was a quickie as rain was threatening, we just made it along with your hugs Penny, doggie now curled up on my knee getting warm. Keep smiling Penny :) and stay warm and safe Viv and all.

Hi, everyone - what a foul day (again!!) More wind and rain. Will it ever end? Dita, you were so lucky finding a local builder to come and fix your roof before any more damage was done. I think lots of builders and maintenance men are going to be busy for months, patching things up for people with weather damage. Hugs to you and poor little doggie. Lucy K is like Trixie - utterly fed up and sleeping for England because there's not much else for a cat to do. Not much else for a person to do, either, if you ask me; hibernation looks more attractive by the minute. It must be really bad: OH was meant to be going on one of his CAMRA pub crawls tomorrow and he said this morning that, if the weather's this bad, he probably won't go. Well!!!! You could have knocked me down with a feather. I don't think that's ever happened before SAM_26.

Hope everyone's warm and well and dry.

Be very interesting to see if OH goes out tomorrow Andere. Weather getting worse here, the wind is steadily rising and of course rain. Do hope Dita doesn't have any more problems, she has enough on her plate at the moment. Hope doggies ok. Dita more hugs on the way, and kisses for house pusses Lucy and Trixie. What a bad time for them. Lucky to have nice warm homes. Take care all. cheers Penny

Hi Penny and all, Has he gone Andere? Another very windy evening, infact although not as bad it is still gusty dare hardly look out this morning in case we faced more smashed tiles, think us ok. Big hugs for you Penny on walkies it was a rather muddy one again. My son and family set off for their journey to France but the roads were heaving on the way to Dover and they have aborted the journey until tomorrow, they should have been on board but instead were still miles away in a massive traffic jam. I was relieved. Doing nothing special today, hoping for a quiet one. Feel so sorry for all the people affected by all this happening. Wake up you lazy Pussie Cats. Keep smiling Penny :) and keep safe all.

Hi, all -
Yes, Dita. OH gulped down a bacon butty, glugged a mug of coffee and announced that as it wasn't raining, he was off to pub-crawl around Hornsey and district. No rain at the time he left but 5 minutes later it was siling down so he must have got soaked just walking to the station. Men - who can understand them?
The wind has dropped quite a lot in the last hour but it's still quite fierce and the heavy showers alternate with brilliant sunshine. Lucy Katt is just confused and doesn't know whether she wants to be in or out. I don't think I'd want to be on a channel ferry today, either, even though I do love being on the sea when it's a bit rough - this is too much and what happened to the people on that cruise ship last night is terrifying! I hope your son & co have a better trip tomorrow although, if they keep the Dartford Bridge closed, it clogs up most of the south-east eventually.
We need the builder back again as I discovered a new damp patch this morning, only tiny but right underneath the sill of one of the bay windows. OH says he'll get something organised next week. Now, I'm about to go and pump out the cellar again. That's an ongoing thing in periods of prolonged rain and a high ground-water table and we keep a submersible pump in permanent readiness but it does take months of dry weather to dry it out completely so, when we decide to sell this place, it'll probably have to be during a drought! Whenever and wherever we move to, I'm already determined that the new house will not have a cellar.
Sympathies and hugs to small dogs because of the cold and the mud!

Hi all,
California has a drought and Australia recently had a very extreme heatwave. A gentleman neighbour , 82 years old has left for Australia last week. He goes every other year, to relatives in Queensland, very independent. After another five weeks, I hope to see him bring back some Spring weather.
(Trixie would like it too) Fast asleep on the chair as usual.
Following my nice little trip to London on Thursday, which was by far the best day of the week weatherwise and I stayed dry, there is another trip on Monday to spend a few hours Charlie-sitting. Halfterms and holidays, usually they spend a few days with me but pressure of work has altered this halfterm. Rain is forecast for Monday (what a surprise) so I may not be taking him to the soggy park or anywhere else!

Andere, I hope the damp problem is fixed next week. I am keeping a lookout for rain seeping in anywhere.
Hugs to all

Hi Dita and all, what a night, Gales and rain. Didn't want to get out of bed today, so cold. Hope you haven't any more problems Dita, We had a call from neighbour asking where he can get a fence like ours. His blew down in the night. We had this one put round years ago, and so far,!!!!! fingers crossed. Hate to think what it is going to cost. Big hugs for doggie, walkies doubtful re-mud, and kisses for pussies, better stay in all day today. We have been promised heavy winds and rain the p.m. so sitting on edge. So, OH did make it the Andere. not surprised, if it is for their own benefit they can always get up the energy.Take care all and keep warm. cheers Penny :please:

Nipped to Asda to top up mi phone and of course bought odds and sods on the way round, rushed home then to put the chicken in the oven for a meal later. Have felt a bit sicky and not sure if I fancy much to eat, oh! well hubby will enjoy it. Family caught the 8.30 boat from Dover this morninng and are now motoring south towards their little house, it will take them about 7hrs. Keep your chins up Penny :) and all.

Hi Dita and all, Do hope you are feeling better Dita. Sorry to be late with hugs and kisses but everything going amiss. Hope doggie still enjoyed walkies and pussis should have had a nice time out and about today. Tried to post but kept getting cut off. Went out for lunch and had a very nice one at The Prince Of Wales. Took long way round home and arrived back about 2.30. Just taken coat off when son and family arrived for the afternoon so have been entertaining the grandchildren for hours. My granddaughter loves to hear of my days Modelling. An my grandson was delighted when I danced that funny dance with him, wriggling arms and body all over the place. Enjoyed it and then they were talking about going somewhere abroad for a couple of weeks. Shocking me with the costs involved. They have just left as they are watching a rugby match this evening. Take care all and keep warm. cheers Penny

Hi Penny and all. Very dull and chilly doggie walk this morning a warming hug very welcome. Wish I hadn't had that big meal yesterday, I suffer today so will be on something very bland mi thinks. They dont seem to be getting on very quick with the house, not yet got our scaffolding up, waiting for the electric board to protect the outside wiring, also the gas board came to alter the flu pipe which has to be longer as it travels from the boiler through the wall to outside, he brought the wrong size so more delay. Anyway suppose it will be worth it in the end. Keep smiling Penny :) like me, and take care all.

Hi, all - very grey here most of the time but DRY!!!! Lucy K was out most of the morning enjoying it. She's home now and sleeping off her exertions as you could probably guess. I've done a great mountain of laundry, too. It's still in the dryer but I feel very self-satisfied that it's done.

Didn't do much over the weekend except wrangle about where and when we're going on holiday. I think it's going to be Normandy this year: my choice for a change  I like to get it organised so there's something to look forward to!

Hope your bug or whatever-it-is gets better Dita. It's horrible having to cook for others when you don't feel remotely like eating. Can you give hubby a cookery book and an apron and let him get on with it for him and the dog? Penny - do be careful with all that dancing. We wouldn't want you to put your back out!

I'm off to remind OH to ring the builder about the new damp patch ....
